Cowin portal crashes as Covid vaccine registration opens for 18+

The Cowin portal is expectedly seeing server issues as Covid vaccine registrations open for 18+. The Covid vaccine registration was set to begin at 4 PM on Wednesday, April 28th and you can register through the Cowin portal and the Aarogya Setu app. However, the Cowin portal started crashing minutes before registration opened. The government website is no doubt seeing a massive surge in traffic as people over the age of 18 are allowed to register for the Covid vaccination. With the website facing server issues, people are unable to login and book a slot for Covid vaccination.

Many are also facing delays in receiving the OTP to successfully log into the Cowin website. Interestingly, users who have logged into the Cowin portal are unable to book a slot as the centres continue to show the minimum age limit for booking as 45+. There is no word yet on when the website will be functional again.

Due to the server issues, it looks like people over the age of 18 will need to wait a few days in order to book a slot for the Covid vaccine registration. As of writing this story, most centres have already been booked for May 1st and May 2nd. Slots are expected to get filled at a rapid pace over the next few hours.
