Samsung Galaxy S23 users face degraded audio quality after OneUI 6.1.1 update
Samsung’s OneUI 6.1.1 update has affected the Galaxy S23‘s audio quality. The South Korean brand started seeding the software version to older Galaxy devices in September this year. SamMobile, citing a tip from one of their readers, was the first to spot the issue. It has now been acknowledged by Samsung after multiple posts on the company’s community forum and Reddit.
OneUI 6.1.1 is affecting Galaxy S23’s audio quality
- The OneUI 6.1.1 has degraded the sound quality on the Samsung Galaxy S23.
- Notably, some Galaxy Tab S9 series users have also complained about similar issue.
- As per one of SamMobile’s (via) readers, the audio seemed tinny and washed out which used to be clear and punchy earlier.
- Samsung stated that the issue stemmed from the Dolby Atmos Library getting updated from 3.10 to 3.12 version. It was aimed to enhance the 360 audio capabilities.
- However, it ended up altering the sound quality in some audio models.
- As per the South Korean brand this resulted in some users perceiving the sound quality as inferior compared to previous versions.
- Samsung says that the it has communicated the degraded audio quality issue to Dolby.
- The British-American audio giant is expected to release an updated library soon. This will fix the issue on the Galaxy S23 and Tab S9 units.
- However, there’s no clarity when the update will arrive.
- Some users were hoping that the November security patch would fix the issue but that was not the case.
