Smartphone explosion in Nashik injures three people, shatters all windows nearby: report

Smartphone explosions that have occurred so far have usually been isolated but this one that took place in Nashik, Maharashtra was probably the biggest one yet. It has been reported that a mobile phone blasted inside a house in Nashik injuring three people inside, and even shattering windows nearby. 

Mobile phone blast in Nashik

The incident took place on Tuesday, and it occurred while the phone was charging, according to a report by NDTV. There’s no clarification on the brand and model of the smartphone. What made the explosion worse was a can of deodorant lying nearby. For those unaware, deodorants are highly flammable products and any small contact with a flame can lead to the whole can exploding.

  • The severity of the blast was so bad that it not only damaged the glass and windows inside the house but all the windows around the area as well. Even cars parked around the house were affected by the blast as its windows were all shattered, the report added.
  • It even mentions videos showing damaged furniture and metal railings on windows completely damaged from the blast.
  • There was fortunately no casualty reported but the three people who were inside the house suffered serious burn injuries from the blast.
  • The cause behind the blast hasn’t been revealed though as police investigations are still going on. With only the mobile phone and the deodorant can involved, the blast seems way bigger than expected.

Smartphone batteries that are old tend to swell up, and if you connect this to a power point to try and charge it then it will most likely lead to an explosion. Other causes could be the faulty battery or phone charger leading to a short circuit. These are the common possible reasons that could have caused the explosion but a detailed investigation will give a better idea on what exactly happened.
