OnePlus offering free screen upgrade for older models in India to prevent green line issue: list of eligible models

Several OnePlus phones have been subject to the green line issue with users largely affected in India. This has been going on since last year and the issue seems to have cropped up on the older OnePlus 8T, OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus 9, and OnePlus 9R models. To address this issue, OnePlus offered a lifetime display warranty for its phones affected by the green line issue. Now, the company has another offer for a free screen upgrade to help prevent such issues. 

OnePlus free screen upgrade

• This new offer was spotted in OnePlus’s Red Cable Club loyalty program in India.
• As per this offer, the OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus 8T, OnePlus 9, and OnePlus 9R can claim a free screen upgrade in addition to cleaning and maintenance services in the service centre. 
• There is a condition though as the phones mentioned above should be free from any damage and repair from third-party services. If so, then you can go ahead and claim this offer. 
• With the screen upgrade, OnePlus users will get an “advanced display panel”, according to a report by Android Authority. This new screen “enhances performance with vibrant colors and increased durability,” and it’s “specifically engineered to perform well in high-humidity and high-temperature environments,” the report added.

Do note that this free screen upgrade is to prevent issues like the green line that appears on AMOLED displays. It doesn’t apply to phones which have already been damaged. Since there are OnePlus phones that are likely to be affected by the green line issue, users can go ahead and get their screens replaced to prevent future damage.

So if you use any of the OnePlus phones listed above, you can claim this offer. If you choose to not claim this offer and your phone eventually gets the green line issue, you can still get the display replaced at OnePlus service centres.
