Samsung Galaxy S25 series to use only Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset: report
The Galaxy S25 series will be Samsung’s next flagship smartphone lineup expected to launch early next year. Reports and leaks about the Galaxy S25 phones have already surfaced online. One detail that has been appearing time and again is the chipset for the Galaxy S25 series. A new report now says that all the Galaxy S25 series phones will use only the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset.
Galaxy S25 series: No Exynos this time?
- Samsung is known to offer its flagship phones with in-house Exynos and Qualcomm chipsets depending on the market.
- A new report by Hankyung Korea Market says that Samsung has decided to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset for the Galaxy S25 series. This chipset is slated to launch in October and will later power several flagship phones from different brands.
- As for the in-house Exynos 2500 chipset, Samsung will reportedly use this for foldables that will be released in 2025. This means that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 will not come with the flagship Snapdragon chipset but the Exynos 2500.
There have been multiple reports regarding the chipset that Samsung is planning to use for the Galaxy S25 series. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that Samsung is expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset for all the Galaxy S25 models. However, another report said that Samsung might even use a new MediaTek chipset for the Galaxy S25 series.
An earlier report also claimed that we might see only Exynos 2500 chipsets on all Galaxy S25 models. These are all reports but it does indicate that Samsung is considering different strategies for the Galaxy S25 series.
It wouldn’t be the first time to see a Snapdragon-powered lineup for Samsung’s flagships. Samsung had launched all Galaxy S23 models with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. It went back to its original strategy of launching Exynos models in all markets except for the US. The Galaxy S24 Ultra, however, uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in all markets.
