Best Snapdragon X laptops to look out for in 2024

Qualcomm made a big splash into the Windows PC ecosystem with its ARM-based Snapdragon X series mobile processors. After dominating the smartphone industry, Qualcomm is set to compete with Intel and AMD by offering chips that are fairly powerful and power efficient.

At the moment, the company has two CPU options – the Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus. While the X Elite comes in 12-core configuration, the X Plus offers 10-cores. Both offer up to 45 TOPS of performance via its NPU (Neural Processing Unit) and support for 8448 MT/s LPDDR5X memory.

There are a bunch of new Qualcomm-powered laptops that are readily available, while some are expected to launch soon India. We’ve listed down some of the most notable options that are worth considering.

ASUS VivoBook S15

ASUS is one of the first manufacturers to bring a Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite-powered notebook to India. The new VivoBook S15 is a lightweight thin and light laptop measuring just 1.47cms in thickness and weighing 1.42kgs. The laptop boasts a 15.6-inch 3K Lumina OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, 16:9 aspect ratio, and up to 600 nits peak brightness. It offers a 100 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut and is Pantone-validated for accurate colour representation. The Vivobook S 15 OLED also meets MIL-STD 810H durability standards, ensuring it can withstand various environmental conditions.

As for memory, there’s 16GB of LPDDR5X clocked at 8448MHz which is naturally soldered, so you cannot upgrade. For storage there’s a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD, which can be replaced or upgraded as there’s a standard M.2 slot.

For I/O there are two USB 4.0 Type-C ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, an HDMI 2.1, a 3.5mm audio jack, and even a microSD card reader. For wireless connectivity, it offers Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. The 70Whr battery promises 18 hours of battery life and uses a 90W USB Type-C charger.

The Asus Vivobook S 15 OLED is priced at Rs 1,24,990 and is available on all major online and offline retail stores in India.

Microsoft Surface Laptop 7

The latest generation of Surface Laptop from Microsoft ditches Intel and AMD for Qualcomm. Available in two sizes – 13.8-inch and 15-inch, the Surface Laptop 7 has been slightly refined from its predecessor featuring thinner bezels, a lightweight chassis and improved touchscreen displays. Apart from the resolution, the displays on both laptops come with a 3:2 ratio, 120Hz dynamic refresh rate, factory colour calibration, Dolby Vision IQ support and Corning Gorilla Glass 5.


The Surface Laptop 7 13.8-inch will be offered with the option of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Plus or the X Elite, while the bigger model will only come with the latter. There’s also the option of choosing between 16GB or 32GB LPDDR5x memory and PCIe Gen 4 SSD options of 256GB, 512GB or 1TB.

Microsoft claims that the Surface Laptop 7 is capable of offering up to 20 hours of battery life and up to 22 hours if you go for the 15-inch model. Similar to last year, the port selection is quite limited. There are two USB 4.0 Type-C ports that offer support for charging and DisplayPort 1.4a, a USB 3.1 Type-A port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and the Surface connect port. There’s also Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and an improved 1080p “Surface Studio” webcam that supports Windows Studio Effects and Windows Hello face authentication.

The Surface Laptop 7 is available at a starting price of Rs 1,16,999 for the 13.8-inch model and Rs 1,42,999 for the 15-inch model.

Microsoft Surface Pro 11

Just like the Surface Laptop 7, the new Surface Pro 11 2-in-1 has also been updated with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Plus and X Elite processors. Microsoft claims that the new Surface Pro 11 offers 90 percent improvement in performance and 14 hours of battery life.

The 13-inch display comes with a resolution of 2,880 x 1,920 pixels, 3:2 aspect ratio, 120Hz dynamic refresh rate, factory colour calibration, Dolby Vision IQ support and Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Microsoft is offering two display types with either LCD or an OLED panel.


Apart from the regular Surface Pro Signature keyboard, there’s the option of a new Surface Pro Flex keyboard which now comes with Bluetooth and can be used independently of the tablet. Additionally, there’s the Surface Slim Pen for writing or sketching.

There’s an updated quad-HD Surface Studio front-facing camera with an ultrawide field of view and Windows Studio Effects which includes automatic framing, creative filter, eye contact, and Windows Hello face authentication. As for the rear camera, it offers a 10-megapixel resolution with Ultra HD video capabilities.

The Surface Pro 11 will be available with either 16GB or 32GB of LPDDR5x RAM and PCIe Gen 4 SSD options of 256GB, 512GB and 1TB. In terms of I/O there are two USB 4.0 Type-C ports that support charging, DisplayPort 1.4a, and Surface Thunderbolt 4 Dock. There’s also the Surface Connect port that supports various Surface accessories and up to 65W fast charging. For wireless connectivity, there’s Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and the option of installing a nano-SIM.

Pricing for the new Surface Pro 11 in India starts at Rs 1,16,999 and is available from leading online and offline stores.

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x is one of the most compact and lightweight notebooks in this list with a weight of 1.28kgs and thickness of 12.9mm. At the same time, it meets military-grade MIL-STD-810H durability standards making it durable. It boasts a 14.5-inch 16:10 3K 90Hz PureSight OLED touch display with a peak brightness of 1000-nits, supporting 100% sRGB and P3 colour gamuts.

Lenovo ThinkPad T14s
The laptop is powered by the Snapdragon X Elite 12-core CPU and can be configured with up to 32GB of LPDDR5X 8448MHz and up to 1TB PCIe M.2 Gen 4 PCIe SSD.

The device is claimed to provide ‘multi-day’ battery life with its 70Wh battery and includes three USB 4.0 Type-C ports, an audio jack, and HDMI 2.1 for connectivity. It also features Dolby Atmos audio, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, a 1080p IR webcam with an integrated privacy shutter and four microphones with noise cancellation. The keyboard offers 1.5mm key travel with an anti-oil coating, and the large trackpad measuring 135 x 80mm.

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x will be available in a single Cosmic Blue variant and is priced at $1,199 (approx Rs 1,00,300). It is expected to launch soon in India.

Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge

Samsung is also bringing its own Snapdragon-powered laptops under the Galaxy Book4 Edge series. While it looks very similar to the Galaxy Book4 Pro series, this one is going to arrive in a special Sapphire blue colour scheme. As with most Samsung laptops, this one boasts a Dynamic AMOLED 2X touchscreen with a resolution of 2,880 x 1,800 pixels and 120Hz refresh rate. It comes in two sizes: 14-inch for the Edge model and 16-inch for the Edge Pro model. Both laptops are powered by a Snapdragon X Elite 12-core CPU and come with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage.

As a Copilot+ PC, the Galaxy Book4 Edge series includes AI features such as Live Captions, Circle to Search, Live Translate, Recall, and Cocreator. Video call enhancements like portrait blur and voice focus are provided by Windows Studio effects. You also get a 1080p webcam, a fingerprint scanner for Windows Hello login, and AKG-tuned speakers.

Connectivity options include two USB 4.0 Type-C ports, HDMI 2.1 and a 3.5mm audio jack. The larger 16-inch model gets an additional USB 3.2 Type-A port as well as a microSD card reader. The laptop also features a backlit keyboard, 65W fast charging, Bluetooth 5.3, and Wi-Fi 7. The 14-inch model weighs 1.20kg and measures 12.30 x 8.81 x 0.43 inches, while the 16-inch model weighs 1.55kg and measures 13.99 x 9.86 x 0.48 inches.

The Galaxy Book4 Edge is currently available in specific regions for a starting price of $1,350 (approx Rs 1,13,000) for the 14-inch version and $1,450 (approx Rs 1,21,000) for the 16-inch version. Samsung is yet to confirm pricing and availability for the Indian market.

Dell XPS 13 (9345)

Dell’s popular XPS 13 is also getting a taste of the ARM with the new XPS 13 9345 model. Dell says that its latest Snapdragon-powered XPS 13 is now the thinnest and lightest model in the XPS lineup, making it a standout choice for users seeking a high-performance, ultraportable laptop.

Powered by the Snapdragon X1 Elite, the new XPS 13 supports all of Microsoft’s Copilot+ features and will be configurable with up to 32GB of LPDDR5x RAM at 8448 MT/s, paired with a 1TB PCIe 4 SSD.

Dell-XPS-13-9345-India

The laptop will be available in two display options including a 13.4-inch FHD+ (1,920 x 1,200) non-touch panel, with 500-nits brightness, 100 percent sRGB color accuracy, Dolby Vision, Eyesafe technology, and an anti-glare coating. For those seeking even higher resolution and touch capabilities, there is a 13.4-inch OLED 3K (2,880 x 1,800) touch display with 400-nit brightness, 100 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut, Dolby Vision, Eyesafe technology, and an anti-reflective coating.

One of the key highlights of the new XPS 13, is the battery life. Dell claims that the FHD+ model offers up to 27 hours on a single charge from its 55Whr battery. As for charging, the laptop will come with a rather efficient 60W USB-C adapter, supporting ExpressCharge 1.0 for quick recharges.

Other notable features include a 1080p webcam with Windows Hello support for secure login, two USB 4.0 Type-C ports with DisplayPort 2.1 and Power Delivery, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. Notably, it weighs only 1.17kg, with the OLED version measuring 0.58-inches in thickness and the IPS version at 0.60-inches.

The new XPS 13 is available for purchase in India at a starting price of Rs 1,39,990 going up to Rs 1,69,990 for the top variant.

HP OmniBook X

Next, we have the HP OmniBook X, another thin and light laptop powered by the Snapdragon X Elite chipset. The company is already selling the notebook in India at a starting price of Rs 1,69,934 which is significantly more than some of the other Qualcomm laptops.

The HP OmniBook X HP boasts a stunning 2.2K (2,240,× 1,400 pixels) IPS touch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a brightness of up to 300 nits. It is equipped with TUV+Eyesafe certification and covers 100 percent of the sRGB colour gamut, ensuring vibrant and accurate colours. For memory and storage, the laptop includes 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM clocked at 8448 MT/s and up to 1TB of PCIe NVMe SSD.

In terms of connectivity, the OmniBook X HP features Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, two USB Type-C ports (supporting USB Power Delivery and DisplayPort), one USB Type-A port, and a headphone/microphone combo jack. It also includes a 5-megapixel IR camera with temporal noise reduction and a manual shutter for added privacy.

HP claims the 59Wh battery on the OmniBook X can deliver up to 26 hours of battery life. Additionally, the 65W fast charger can recharge the laptop to 50% in just 30 minutes, ensuring you stay productive on the go.
