iPhone users can now use the same WhatsApp account on multiple devices
WhatsApp has rolled out a bunch of new features for iPhone users. With the latest update, iPhone users can now link their WhatsApp account on up to four devices at the same time. This feature called ‘Companion Mode’ has been available for Android users for a while now. The latest update also adds more features to disappearing messages, GIFs, status and more.
WhatsApp Companion Mode
WhatsApp Companion Mode essentially lets you use the same WhatsApp account on multiple devices at the same time. This is currently possible with your phone and desktop or laptop but you need an active internet connection and both devices to be nearby to use WhatsApp. With Companion Mode, you can use WhatsApp independently on your other devices.
How to link your WhatsApp account on multiple devices
- If you have a secondary device that you want to use the same WhatsApp account on, this feature is for you.
- You can start by downloading WhatsApp on your other device.
- When the phone number registration screen appears, you’ll see an option to link this device to an existing account.
- A QR code will pop up on the screen which you’ll have to scan from your primary WhatsApp device.
- Your WhatsApp account will be linked and you’ll have access to all your chats.
WhatsApp has also made a small update to disappearing messages with the latest update. iPhone users can now save important messages when this feature is turned on. You can do this by long pressing on a message and choosing ‘keep’ to save the message. WhatsApp status has also been updated with new fonts and background colours. More features in this update include GIFs playing automatically without having to tap them, and the option to add a WhatsApp call link to the iOS Calendar app.
The new WhatsApp update is available on the App Store so you can download it right away. But you might not see the features just yet as WhatsApp said it will roll out over the coming weeks.
