Motorola Edge 40 specifications, Edge 40 Pro renders leaked ahead of launch
Motorola Edge X40 launched as one of the first Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen2 phones in China last year. Now, it looks like the company is working on bringing the phone to global markets, but with a major shift in the marketing name of the phone. The Motorola Edge X40 will probably be rebranded as Motorola Edge 40 Pro for global and Indian markets and there will also be a standard Motorola Edge 40 as well. Now, ahead of the official announcement, Motorola Edge 40 and Edge 40 Pro entire specifications have surfaced online, courtesy of MySmartPrice.

Motorola Edge 40 Pro design
The Motorola Edge 40 Pro will have a curved screen, giving it a premium look. The phone will have a centre-positioned punch-hole cutout for the selfie snapper and narrow bezels. The volume rocker and power button are on the right edge. The top portion houses a speaker grille, a secondary mic for noise cancellation and Dolby Atmos branding. The bottom edge has the SIM tray section, USB Type-C port, and another speaker grille.
The back of the phone has a square module to house the triple camera sensors and an LED flash. We also see the iconic Moto dimple.
Motorola Edge 40 Pro specifications
According to the report, the Motorola Edge 40 Pro is expected to ship with a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a curved screen, a punch-hole cutout for the selfie snapper, a 165Hz refresh rate, 360Hz touch sampling rate, DC Dimming, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, DCI-P3 colour gamut, 1300nits brightness, and 10bit colours. The phone packs a 4,600mAh battery with 125W fast wired and 15W wireless charging support.
Powering the phone is Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC paired with Adreno GPU for graphics. The chipset will be paired with 12GB LPDDR5X and 256GB UFS 4.0 storage that might not be further expandable. The handset runs on Android 13 OS out of the box.
As for the cameras, the Motorola Edge 40 is tipped to have triple cameras on the back, with a 50MP primary unit with OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 12MP telephoto lens with 2x zoom. There is a 60MP unit on the front for selfies and video chats. The phone is equipped with a three-dimensional liquid cooling system.
The report says the Motorola Edge 40’s frame will be made of aluminium, while the front and rear panels will come with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. The phone will be equipped with an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, an in-display fingerprint sensor for security, and Dolby Atmos. The handset is expected to measure 161.16 x 74 x 8.59mm.

On the other hand, the Motorola Edge 40 is expected to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8020 SoC paired with 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. There is a 4,400mAh battery with 68W fast charging support and 15W wireless charging support. The Edge 40 will have dual cameras on the back, with a 50MP f/1.5 main camera with OIS support and a 13MP ultra-wide lens with a 120-degree field of view. There is a 32MP snapper on the front.
The Moto Edge 40 will have a 6.55-inch FHD+ pOLED display with 144Hz refresh rate support, HDR10+ and 1200nits peak brightness. The phone will also come with an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. The report says the Motorola phone would come in two models: Vegan Leather and PMMA Acrylic. The former will weigh about 171 grams and measure 158.43 x 71.99 x 7.58mm. While the PMMA version will come in at 7.49mm thickness and weigh about 167 grams.
The phone will be available in Lunar Blue, Nebula Green, Eclipse Black and Magenta colour options.
