Redmi 9 Power India launch date revealed

Highlights
  • Redmi 9 Power India launch is December 17th
  • The phone is confirmed to come with a 48MP primary camera, Hi-Res audio support, and a beefy battery
  • Speculations are rife Redmi 9 Power could be the rebranded version of Redmi Note 9 4G

Redmi 9 Power India launch is scheduled for December 17th at 12pm IST through an online event. The Mi India events page has revealed some key specifications of the phone, including a vertically aligned rear camera module with 48MP primary sensor, beefy battery (with fast-charging support possibly), Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, large storage option, and Hi-Res audio support. Based on what we have heard so far and speculation doing rounds on the web, the Redmi 9 Power could be a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 9 4G that was launched in China recently. It shouldn’t be long before more information surfaces online.

Redmi 9 Power

If Redmi 9 Power is indeed a rebranded variant of the Redmi Note 9 4G, the Redmi 9 Power will come with a 6.53-inch FHD+ IPS LCD display with a waterdrop notch for the selfie camera and a standard 60Hz refresh rate. It will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 SoC coupled with Adreno 610 GPU, 4GB RAM, and up to 128GB storage that should further expandable via a microSD card. The phone would likely run on Android 10-based MIUI 12 custom skin on top. The Redmi Note 9 4G has triple cameras at the back with a 48MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultrawide lens and a 2MP depth sensor for portrait shots, so we can expect the same setup on the Redmi 9 Power as well.

The Redmi 9 Power could have an 8MP snapper on the front for selfies and video chats and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security. Considering that the Redmi Note 9 4G has a 6,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support and USB Type-C port, you can see the same on Redmi 9 Power as well. As for the pricing, the Redmi Note 9 4G price in China starts at RMB 999 (approx Rs 11,200) for the base model, so the India pricing of the Redmi 9 Power should be on similar lines if the phone turns out to be the rebranded variant of the Chinese model.
