The iQOO Z9s series was just launched in India and arrives as an affordable, performance-focused offering in the mid-range segment. The iQOO Z9s, in particular, carries a starting price of Rs 19,999 and, for the price, offers a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 SoC, a 50MP OIS primary camera, a 5500mAh battery, and more. The smartphone faces stiff competition in this price segment, which includes the likes of the Moto G85 (review) and the OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite (OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite).
Both these phones carry a similar price tag and make viable alternatives for the iQOO Z9s. To determine which smartphone offers the best value for money in this price segment, we’ll be conducting a head-to-head performance comparison between all three phones.
Here are the respective prices for all three phones and their storage variants (as per their official websites):

Geekbench
Geekbench 6 is an industry-standard benchmarking tool that assesses the CPU performance of a smartphone. The CPU comparison of a smartphone relies on two main factors: the CPU itself and the total memory available. The iQOO Z9s scored 1044 on the single-core test and 3011 on the multi-core test, while the Moto G85 scored 926 on the single-core test and 2145 on the multi-core test.
The OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite registered 914 on the single-core test and 2056 on the multi-core test. Single-core performance affects tasks like web browsing and app loading speeds, while tasks like gaming and photo/video editing rely on multi-core performance, and you’ll enjoy better performance on these on the iQOO Z9s.
Winner: iQOO Z9s
AnTuTu
The AnTuTu benchmark test is a more comprehensive testing tool that assesses a smartphone’s overall performance. It measures the device’s CPU performance, GPU performance, Memory performance and User experience. The iQOO Z9s registered an aggregate score of 7,02,347 on the test, while the Moto G85 and OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite logged almost equivalent scores of 4,71,687 and 4,75,981.
The difference between the iQOO Z9s and the other two is substantial and stems from its more powerful chipset. The iQOO Z9s attains much higher scores than the Moto G85 and OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite in aspects like CPU performance (213538 vs. 150469 vs. 154830) and GPU performance (147802 vs. 90187 vs. 85405). Going by the benchmark numbers, the iQOO Z9s will offer significantly better performance for GPU-reliant tasks like gaming and editing.
Winner: iQOO Z9s
CPU throttling
The CPU throttle test assesses how stable a smartphone’s chipset is when performing under stress. We use the Burnout benchmark app, which pushes the phone to the point of thermal throttling and gives us a clear idea of its overall performance output.
The iQOO Z9s Pro shows a total performance output of 63.9 percent, while the OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite showcases a better output of 55.4 percent, and the Moto G85 registered a score of 53.2 percent. Although the lower performance output isn’t usually an issue in everyday use, the iQOO Z9s Pro will handle stress better than the other two.
Winner: iQOO Z9s
Gaming test
For the gaming test, we played moderately demanding games like BGMI, COD: Mobile, and Real Racing 3 on all three phones for 30 minutes each. All devices support ‘Very High’ graphical settings for both BGMI and COD: Mobile. At medium settings, the iQOO Z9s performed the best, offering an average of 54 FPS on COD: Mobile. It also led in BGMI, delivering around 29-30 FPS on ‘HD’ resolution with a ‘High’ frame rate.
iQOO Z9s | Moto G85 | OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite | |
Average temperature increase | 4.2 degrees Celsius | 5.2 degrees Celsius | 6.3 degrees Celsius |
In terms of thermal management, the iQOO Z9s is quite excellent, showing an average temperature increase of only 4.2 degrees Celsius across the games. The Moto G85 had a slightly higher average increase of 5.2 degrees Celsius, while the OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite registered the highest increase at 6.3 degrees Celsius. Effective thermal management is crucial, as it helps extend the smartphone’s lifespan by controlling heat during gaming.

Verdict
If performance output is your number one priority, the iQOO Z9s is the best choice between the three phones under Rs 20,000. It has better benchmark results, high gaming performance, more efficient cooling and offers the best performance under stress. The Moto G85 and OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite are both closely tied together in terms of their performance capabilities and may leave some users wanting more power. These phones are better alternatives for users who prefer a clean UI as both these phones have a clean OS, which the iQOO Z9s lacks.
