CMF Phone 1 vs iQOO Z9 battery comparison: which one is better optimised?

The CMF Phone 1 (review) is equipped with a typical 5,000mAh battery that you will find in most other smartphones within the segment. As observed in the review, the battery is decently optimised to provide a good backup, whether for gaming or everyday use. The handset already surpassed the OnePlus Nord CE4 Lite in battery comparison. Now, it is time to evaluate how the CMF Phone 1’s battery stacks up against the formidable iQOO Z9 (review). PCMark battery test

The CMF Phone 1 achieves 15 hours 11 minutes on the PCMark battery test, which runs a series of tasks on the device until the battery life drops to 20 percent. Conversely, the iQOO Z9 scored 15 hours 40 minutes, making it a better device out of the two per the synthetic benchmark test.

Video streaming

For this video streaming test, we played a 30-minute YouTube video on both devices with similar resolution, brightness and volume levels. The CMF Phone 1 exhibited superior battery performance, consuming only 3 percent (equivalent to 150mAh). The iQOO Z9’s battery life, in contrast, decreased by approximately 250mAh, or 5 percent.

Gaming test

The iQOO Z9 battery consumption seems to be better optimised than the CMF phone when it comes to gaming. The iQOO smartphone battery dropped by 18 percent (equivalent to 900mAh) after playing BGMI, Call of Duty, and Real Racing 3 for half an hour each. In a similar scenario, the CMF Phone 1 consumed 21 percent battery life, which in absolute numbers translates to 1,050mAh.

Charging speeds

The iQOO Z9 features a 44W fast charging solution, taking approximately 62 minutes to charge from 20 percent to 100 percent. The charger is included in the box. The CMF Phone 1, on the other hand, supports 33W fast charging, but a compatible charger, costing Rs 799, needs to be purchased separately. This handset takes 63 minutes to charge from 20 percent to 100 percent.

Verdict

The iQOO Z9 excels in three out of four tests in this battery comparison. The handset scores higher in both the PCMark battery test and the gaming test. Additionally, it charges a minute faster than the CMF Phone 1. However, the CMF Phone 1 is significantly cheaper, and the differences in performance are minimal. It even outperforms iQOO Z9 in the video streaming test. Hence, the CMF Phone 1 could be a worthwhile purchase if you’re constrained by a tight budget.
