Geekbench

The Geekbench test helps us evaluate the CPU performance of a smartphone. The Infinix GT 20 Pro clocked 1020 in the Geekbench single-core test and 3384 in the multi-core test. In comparison, the Nothing Phone (2a) registered 1068 in the single-core test and 2454 in the multi-core test.

From the Geekbench results, the Infinix GT 20 Pro is more likely to offer better performance in multi-core-based tasks such as video and photo editing, gaming, etc., and a comparable performance output in single-core-based tasks such as web browsing, word processing, etc.

AnTuTu

The AnTuTu benchmark assesses a smartphone’s comprehensive performance output in multiple aspects, such as its CPU prowess, GPU capability, memory performance, and UX (user experience). The Infinix GT 20 Pro registered an aggregate score of 9,36,985 on the AnTuTu test, while the Nothing Phone (2a) logged an aggregate score of 7,07,480.

The Infinix GT 20 Pro is more likely to offer a significantly better performance output compared to the Nothing Phone (2a), owing to its better overall performance in all key aspects in the AnTuTu benchmark test.

Throttling test

We use the Burnout benchmark app to evaluate the performance output of both smartphones when throttled. The Infinix GT 20 Pro registered a performance output of 68.4 percent under throttling, while the Nothing Phone (2a) registered a performance output of 54.2 percent under throttling. The former is poised to deliver better performance under stress.

Gaming test

We played games like BGMI, COD: Mobile and Real Racing 3 to test out the real-world performance capabilities of both phones. Here’s the maximum supported resolution and average frame rates both phones achieved in BGMI and COD: Mobile. In Real Racing 3, since the game auto-adjusts the graphics, the Infinix GT 20 Pro registered an average of 57FPS, while the Nothing Phone (2a) registered 59FPS. The Infinix GT 20 played the game with higher visual fidelity compared to the Nothing Phone (2a).

Let now see how both phones handled their thermals while gaming. The Infinix GT Pro registered an aggregate temperature rise of only 11 degrees Celsius across three games, which is quite impressive, while the Nothing Phone (2a) logged an aggregate temperature rise of 18 degrees Celsius. The Infinix GT 20 Pro wins out in the gaming comparison test owing to its superior gaming prowess and thermal management.

Verdict

The Infinix GT 20 Pro emerges as the clear winner in our performance comparison against the Nothing Phone (2a). The former outperforms both in synthetic benchmarks and real-world tests. If you want top-notch performance in a smartphone under Rs 25,000, the Infinix GT 20 Pro is an easy recommendation. 

The Nothing Phone (2a), in comparison, is not a gaming device geared towards delivering the best performance output. Instead, it offers a unique design, a great user experience thanks to a stock Android-like UI, and reliable day-to-day battery life. If these aspects appeal to you, the Nothing Phone (2a) is a good option to consider at this price point.
