Realme P1 vs Lava Blaze Curve performance comparison: which is the better performer?

The Realme P1 (review) has grabbed a lot of headlines recently as the handset offers some impressive specifications for the price. Although the handset’s pricing starts at Rs 14,999. Just to name a few of these features, the Realme handset comes with an AMOLED display, UFS 3.1 storage, and a robust MediaTek chipset. In fact, the handset has been created from the ground up, with the ‘P’ in its moniker standing for performance. While on paper it seems that the P1 can even rival some higher-priced phones with its powerful hardware, today we will test this by pitting it against the Lava Blaze Curve (review), which is currently retailing for Rs 18,999.

Geekbench

Even though the Realme P1 and the Lava Blaze Curve feature the same processor, they performed differently in the Geekbench benchmark. The single-core and multi-core scores achieved by these phones indicate that these handsets can easily handle day-to-day tasks, including multitasking and gaming. This is primarily because the Realme P1 and Lava Blaze Curve are fuelled by the capable MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset.

Despite featuring the same Dimensity 7050 chipset, the Blaze Curve achieved higher Geekbench single and multi-core scores than the Realme P1. Based on these numbers, the Lava Blaze Curve can handle demanding tasks more efficiently under heavy stress.

AnTuTu

Surprisingly, in the AnTuTu benchmark, which evaluates the processor as well as the GPU performance, the Realme P1 achieved a higher score than the Lava Blaze Curve.

It is worth noting that the Realme P1 consumed only 5 percent battery, and the internal temperature rose by 10 degrees Celsius during the AnTuTu test. The Lava Blaze Curve in comparison consumed more battery (10 percent), but its temperature rose by 6.8 degrees Celsius.

Throttling test

We also tested the smartphones’ ability to perform under extremely heavy stress via the Burnout app.

The results above highlight that the Lava Blaze Curve was relatively more stable in its peak performance than the Realme P1. Also, the Lava phone continued to handle internal temperature more efficiently.

Gaming

Both Realme P1 and Lava Blaze Curve can run moderately heavy titles, including BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India) and Call of Duty, without lag issues. If you’re into casual gaming, you won’t have any stutter issues with either of these handsets.

In BGMI, both smartphones can offer a smooth refresh rate up to 120Hz refresh rate. Both handsets support HDR in-game. However, after 30 minutes of continuous gaming, Lava Blaze Curve consumed less battery (6 percent) than the Realme P1 (7 percent). The latter’s internal temperature rose by 5.2 degrees Celsius. The Lava phone dissipated internal heat ever so slightly better and maintained a marginally cooler temperature of 4.9 degrees Celsius. Overall, both smartphones handled BGMI efficiently.

Verdict

Based on the performance benchmarks and gaming experience, the Lava Blaze Curve turned out to be slightly better than the Realme P1. However, you need to keep in mind that the Lava phone is priced higher. Other things you need to keep in mind, include:

  • Lava Blaze Curve comes with a 64MP primary camera sensor in a triple camera setup consisting of a secondary 8MP sensor and a tertiary 2MP module. On the other hand, the Realme P1 ships with a 50MP primary camera, assisted by a 2MP shooter.
  • The Realme P1 ships with Android 14 out of the box while the Blaze Curve ships with the older Android 13 OS. Both handsets pack a 5,000mAh battery unit but the Realme P1 offers faster 45W charging, compared with 33W fast-charging support on the Lava phone.
  • The Realme P1 also comes with a 3.5mm audio jack, compared with the USB Type-C audio port for the Blaze Curve.
