Nothing Phone (2) gets ChatGPT, Ultra XDR support with Nothing OS 2.5.5 update

Nothing Phone (2) is finally getting the Nothing OS 2.5.5 update. Its affordable sibling the Nothing Phone (2a) got this update last week. But Phone (2)’s Nothing OS 2.5.5 rollout includes more features like ChatGPT integration and Ultra XDR support within the camera settings. Let’s check out everything new in this build and see how to install it.

Nothing Phone (2) with Nothing OS 2.5.5 features

ChatGPT

This is ChatGPT from the Google Play Store only. You get the following ways to use it on the Phone (2):

• The Nothing X app for Nothing earphones now features a gesture to do voice conversation with ChatGPT. At present, this works with Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear (a). In the future, this will expand to other Nothing audio products.
• You can use ChatGPT widgets on the Nothing OS home screen to easily access the chatbot. 
• The ‘screenshot and clipboard pop-up’ now has a button to quickly share the content with ChatGPT so that you can carry a conversation around the same.

Camera app

• Nothing rolls out TrueLens engine with Nothing OS 2.5.5 update for Nothing Phone (2). It consists of UltraXDR, P3 colour coverage, and more true-to-life tones. 
• Within the Camera Settings, you will now have the UltraXDR option. This has been co-developed with Google. It captures 8 frames of a photo in the RAW format, then adjusts the brightness of each pixel up to 5 times to bring forth proper highlights and shadows.
•  The ‘Photo and Portrait Modes’ within the Camera app show a new HDR switch. Toggle it as per your preference.

Miscellaneous features

• Within Settings > System, you will find the new RAM Booster option, which frees up unused memory and the device could feel faster.
• Inside the Sound section, there is this Ring Mode option that allows for better sound management.
• The new Recorder widget lets you easily record audio.
• Similarly, the new Battery widget lets you keep tabs on power usage and battery level.
• There is also a Glyph Interface Debug Mode in the Developer Options, which should let app devs better control the Glyph UI.

• NFC, Wi-Fi connection, and overall system stability have been improved.
• Apps and widget opening animations have been optimised.
• The animation while interacting with the Bluetooth Quick Settings should be better.
• The volume settings panel has been enhanced for better interaction.
• The clarity of Album artwork on the Music Player widget has been enhanced.
• Resolved issues related to the user experience while switching SIM cards with Data during the call feature is active.

How to install Nothing OS 2.5.5 on Phone (2)

The Nothing OS 2.5.5 update is 206MB in size. Ensure your device is sufficiently charged and the data is backed up somewhere before you begin this process.

Step 1: Go to the device Settings.

Step 2: Move to System > System Update.

Step 3: Download and Install the new update.

The device will boot during the installation. Once it boots to the lockscreen, you can unlock and find the new OS and accompanying features.
