Alleged Sony WH-XB920N headphones appear on Bluetooth SIG listing
Sony WH-XB910N’s possible successor with model number YY2981 has been spotted by 91mobiles on the Bluetooth SIG database. This could be officially called Sony WH-XB920N and could launch soon. It has been certified by the US FCC and Korea’s NRRA as well. We recently shared the Sony WH-XB920N’s renders too. So, here’s everything we know about the upcoming Sony cans.
Sony WH-XB920N Bluetooth SIG appearance
The listing tells the design name and model number to be YY2981. Its predecessor, the Sony WH-XB910N has the model number YY2951. So, you can see some connection there.
The device was listed only today, i.e., February 16th, 2024 with Bluetooth 5.2 certification.
Sony WH-XB920N design and features (expected)
The supposed WH-XB920N renders we shared exactly a week ago showed a very familiar design language. By that we mean it looks a lot like its precursor. However, unlike the older model, this one could come in white also. So, black, blue, and white are the expected colour options.
A clear distinction in the design department, however, could be in the way Sony replaces touch controls with hardware buttons for volume and music playback.
Another noticeable new addition could be ANC as the last one only supported digital noise cancellation. This could fare better in quelling outside noises.
As per our source, it could also sport a Bluetooth multi-point connection which could let the user seamlessly switch the audio source between devices.
The device is said to last 35 hours with ANC on (with a 520mAh battery) and the built-in quick charging facility could give 1 hour’s worth of juice in just 3 minutes of plugging in.
The rumour is that Sony could equip the headphones with a V1 integrated chip for processing DSEE and overall sound quality.
Yes, carrying over from the XB910N could be features like DSEE (for audio upscaling), and Bass Boost (more emphasis on lower frequencies).
We are awaiting Sony’s announcement now. We shall keep you posted as we have more details.
