Zomato Intercity Legends starts rolling out: now get food delivered from other cities
Zomato started rolling out Intercity Legends – an inter-city food delivery service – on Tuesday, August 30th, which allows users to order famous dishes from popular restaurants in other cities. This feature is currently limited to residents of Gurgaon and South Delhi, so only users from the area can place an inter-city order, though it could take a day or so to reach the doorstep.
In a blog post, Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal writes: “With ‘Intercity Legends’, no matter where you are, you can order and relish legendary dishes like baked rosogollas from Kolkata, biryani from Hyderabad, mysore pak from Bengaluru, kebabs from Lucknow, butter chicken from Old Delhi, or pyaaz kachori from Jaipur.”
“By leveraging Zomato’s vast network of restaurant partners and delivery partners, deep understanding of food technology, and insights into what our customers love, legendary dishes will be delivered from across India to you, the very next day,” he added.
If you’re concerned about the food’s hygiene, the blog post also says that the food will be freshly cooked and sent in reusable tamper-proof containers without any preservatives.
“Food is freshly prepared by the restaurant and packed in reusable and tamper-proof containers to keep it safe during air transit. State-of-the-art mobile refrigeration technology (tech) preserves the food without the need to freeze it or add any kind of preservatives. Once you receive your order, you can microwave, air-fry, or pan-fry the food, just like any other dish out of the refrigerator,” read the blog.
Zomato plans to expand the availability of Zomato Intercity Legends throughout the country gradually. “A jewel hides in every nook and corner of India. With over a 100 airports and a rich spread of the most iconic dishes that India has to offer, the sky is the limit to how big Intercity Legends can become,” says Deepinder Goyal.
