This electric car offers 150 kms range on single charge, with max speed of 60kmph
Toyota has unveiled a new electric vehicle (EV) that aims to revolutionise the way people think about automobile cars. The Toyota C+pod is a compact electric car that is available in Japan. It’s a battery-electric car that’s ultra-compact and has seating space for two individuals. The automobile is incredibly compact, allowing for simple movement and access to charging outlets in confined spaces. The Toyota C+pod, which was first presented in Japan in December 2020 for corporate and municipal clients, will soon be accessible for private purchasers as well. Toyota has announced that the C+pod will also be available for leasing across the nation. Toyota also plans to make this vehicle available for individual buyers across the whole world.
Toyota C+pod features
The electric automobile is significantly underpowered in terms of raw power and other features. It has a 150-kilometer range and is powered by a 9.06-kWh lithium-ion battery. The pod-like car’s top speed is 60 kilometers per hour. It’s only 2,490 mm long, or about half the length of a typical SUV, and has a width of 1,290mm and a height of 1,550mm. All the dimensions are even smaller than the already discontinued Tata Nano. The C+pod also has a 3.9-meter turning radius, which should make maneuvering the EV in tight spaces a breeze.
Its charging inlet is located between the front LED headlights, and the whole exterior body is made out of plastic. Coming to its interiors, the inside cabin width of the C+pod is 1,100 mm, and Toyota believes that a driver and one passenger can easily sit comfortably next to one other. The dashboard is a stark contrast of white and black, with the main speed indication display unit, right in the center. Just underneath it, a vertical stack holds the AC’s control switches.
Further, according to Toyota, the C+pod can be charged at full capacity in around five hours using a special 200V/16A outlet, and in roughly 16 hours using the standard 200V/6A power outlet. Toyota also intends to broaden its product offering by forging open collaborations with local governments of different nations as it develops new business models. It is concentrating its efforts currently in Japan on the C+pod and Toyota i-Road, with more than 200 corporate and local government partners actively engaging in the research and development of innovative transportation concepts for future mass production and availability of EV’s across the whole world.
