Sevenaire Saturn 360 Bluetooth Speaker review: brings a lot to the table
What if I were to tell you that the Sevenaire Saturn is a Bluetooth speaker disguised as a table? And that it also functions as a power bank? And that it can wirelessly charge compatible smartphones? I know… it does sound extremely interesting. That was exactly my reaction when I first heard about it. One thing led to another, and soon, I got one to try out.
First things first. If you’re thinking something like this is bound to look tacky, you couldn’t be more wrong. The Sevenaire Saturn looks quite sublime in fact, with its circular top made of real wood and a fabric-wrapped speaker below. You can opt for one of two finishes – light ash wood top with a light brown fabric, or dark walnut with grey fabric. I have the latter, and let me tell you that it looks absolutely gorgeous, fitting in well with my living room decor. The device comes with three wooden legs, that can be screwed into the base using just your hands – no tools required.
While the top is wood, at the front you’ll see a few rubber-finished control buttons for power, play / pause and volume. At the back, there are a couple of USB ports that let you charge other devices, a port for the power adapter’s barrel connector and a 3.5mm line out. The Saturn has a built-in 6,600mAh battery that can be charged using the included adapter, which means you can place it anywhere you like. It lasts about 5-6 hours on a single charge. And if you haven’t guessed it yet, the top of the table is a wireless charger that can charge your phone – all you need to do is keep your phone on the table.
Pairing the Saturn with your phone is a simple process, and involves the usual long process of the power button. The speaker unit is rated at 88 watts and contains six speakers and four bass radiators, churning out 360-degree audio. It gets quite loud too, with its sound enough to fill the room, sans any distortion. However, I do fill feel that the sound could have been richer, and could do with more bass. That said., the audio quality is good overall.
The USB ports at the back are useful for charging other gadgets, and work when the speaker is powered on. The same holds true for wireless charging, though you should note that it provides just 5W of power for juicing up your phone. In my usage, it didn’t seem to be very case friendly when I tried charging an iPhone 13 Pro and a Samsung Galaxy S21+, both of which were clad in cases. The phones charged just fine when I removed the cases though. Still, the wireless charging on the Saturn is a nifty feature that’s quite handy to have. Just lay your phone on the table as it streams music to the speaker and also sips juice while it’s at it.
The Sevenaire Saturn is listed at Rs 26,499 online as you read this, and it might not be for you if you’re looking for pure audio quality. For a similar outlay, you could find speakers with better audio quality. That said, the Sevenaire Saturn’s sound is good enough for casual listening, and with its elegant looks, the device can be quite the conversation starter too. And as you can make out, tt does bring a lot to the table
