Here are what the different FPS settings mean in PUBG New State
To say that PUBG revolutionised the mobile gaming industry would be a bit of an understatement. In fact, the game was at the forefront of the BR or Battle Royale revolution that swept Indians by storm. No sooner than the game was launched, social media platforms were flooded with tips and tricks, how-tos, memes, and montages pertaining to the title. Rest assured, PUBG Mobile’s unprecedented success changed the perception around mobile gaming globally.
Unsurprisingly, there was a lot of commotion on the interwebs when news broke out regarding the next BR title from PUBG Studios, namely PUBG New State. Set in 2051, PUBG New State throws 100 players in a virtual map dubbed TROI wherein standard BR rules apply – scavenge for loot and fight other squads to be the last ones standing. While all that’s good and dandy, PUBG New State, much like its predecessors, is a graphically-demanding game. Thankfully, the game can scale across a variety of handsets and offers a slew of different settings which can be tweaked to offer the most optimum gameplay.
To that note, the game allows users to choose from one of the six-frame rate settings, namely Low, Medium, High, Very High, Ultra and Max. For graphics, the game currently offers four presets dubbed Lite, Medium, High, and Ultra. Interestingly, both, the FPS as well as the graphics tab showcase an ‘Extreme’ mode too, which is currently greyed out. Regardless, we can expect the game to come with improved textures and 90fps gameplay down the line.
FPS Setting | FPS |
Low | 20fps |
Medium | 25fps |
High | 30fps |
Very High | 40fps |
Ultra | 50fps |
Max | 60fps |
For now, let’s take a quick look at how many FPS you can squeeze out of the game with each preset. Do note that we used an Apple iPhone 13 (review) for all our testing. We’ve attached screenshots of our entire run on the TROI map in the gallery above. For the uninitiated, the plateaued lines in the FPS tab refer to different in-game frame rate settings. As can be seen from the chart, the game offers a host of different FPS settings, with the lowest (low) preset offering 20fps. Up next, is the Medium preset which offers 25fps. Moving on, you’ll get the High preset next which offers 30fps gameplay. The Very High, Ultra, and Max tabs will let you play the title at 40fps, 50fps, and 60fps respectively.
If you are curious about the differences in graphics across the four presets, then fret not, we got you covered. Refer to the slider attached above to gauge the differences in textures across the four different visual presets.
