iPhone 13 with notchless display spotted in Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso
iPhone 13 models are expected to be launched later this month but ahead of the official unveiling, a model from the series with a notch-less display design has been spotted in Apple’s own popular web series Ted Lasso. Now, let’s just clarify right away that Apple is highly unlikely to accidentally reveal the design of its own upcoming phone through its web series. Coming to the device in question, Ted Lasso’s second season’s episode six, titled ‘The Signal’, featured two scenes where you can see a phone with an iOS user interface and no notch in sight. In one of these two scenes, the phone is shown at a side angle and later shown to have a display notch but it is hard to say if this was an oversight or just that the notch was not visible from one particular angle. You can be the judge yourself, have a look at the screenshot below.
Before you get too excited, this could easily be a work of special effects that could have been used by Apple to hide the actual design of the upcoming phone. However, one can argue that the brand could have simply handed iPhone 12 series phone to its cast member to avoid all this trouble. Ever since the iPhone X launch, the Cupertino-based brand has included a rather large notch at the top of the display for FaceID components and while there have been rumours and leaks that suggest that iPhone 13 will feature a smaller notch, removal of the notch entirely seems highly unlikely.
While it is more likely that Apple will be removing the notch from next year’s models by either moving the FaceID components below the display or opting for a TouchID sensor below the display, we will not have to wait for long to find out as the launch is expected just later this month. Till then, we would advise you to take every leak with a pinch of salt.
