Indian Gadget Awards: Will the title of Best Mid-range Phone of 2020 go to OnePlus Nord or Samsung Galaxy M51?

The fight for the winner of the Best Mid-Range Phone of 2020 at the Indian Gadget Awards (Voice of the Industry) was particularly intense. The nominees included a bunch of smartphones that all offered tremendous bang for the buck in the sub-Rs 30,000 price range. For the first time ever, the IGA has facilitated a collaboration between 30 of the biggest tech reviewers, YouTubers, and experts, who voted to adjudge the winners of this grand event, which has been co-hosted by 91mobiles, Geekyranjit, Trakin Tech, and MySmartPrice. Let’s see who wins the title in the Best Mid-range Phone of 2020 category.

The winner of the Best Mid-range Phone of 2020 title is: OnePlus Nord

The OnePlus Nord ticked all the right boxes when it came to what a mid-range phone should offer. And it also marked the launch of a new series from the company, which has already spawned new devices. The device costs just Rs 24,999 but has the same 48MP main camera sensor that’s present on the OnePlus 8 Pro. At that price, it also offers a 90Hz display and the Snapdragon 765G chipset, which gives it 5G capabilities. And then there’s the goodness of OxygenOS and 30W fast charging support that make it an out and out no-brainer for the title of the Best Mid-range Phone of 2020.

Runner-up for Best Mid-range Phone of 2020: Samsung Galaxy M51

The runner-up trophy goes to the Samsung Galaxy M51, which made the jury’s job quite difficult with its robust all-round capabilities. This mid-range offering from Samsung carries a whopping 7,000mAh battery inside it, allowing it to last for more than two days on a single charge. Its other specs are impressive as well. Take its 64MP quad-camera setup for instance or the fact that it’s powered by the Snapdragon 730G chipset for that matter. The phone even delighted owners with its 32MP front camera.

Just to refresh your memory, here are the rest of the nominees for the Best Mid-Range Phone of 2020:

Google Pixel 4a

The Pixel 4a continued Google’s tradition of offering a top-notch photography experience. Its single 12MP camera returns images that are way better than so many multi-camera smartphones out there. It’s also got a superb OLED display, along with the strong Snapdragon 730G processor that’s paired with 6GB of RAM.

Vivo V20 Pro

The Vivo V20 Pro grabbed headlines thanks to its 44MP + 8MP dual front camera setup. Like the OnePlus Nord, this handset too features the Snapdragon 765G chipset, making it 5G-ready. The Vivo V20 Pro’s lightweight and slim design and its matte glass rear panel make it a pretty attractive device that’s worth flaunting.

Realme X3 SuperZoom

The main draw of the Realme X3 SuperZoom phone was its 60X Super Zoom feature that took advantage of its periscope-style camera setup to take you really close to your subjects. The phone, moreover, also boasts of a dual front camera setup, while it utilises the Snapdragon 855+ chipset. The phone is equipped with a 6.6-inch FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Samsung Galaxy A71

The beautifully-designed Samsung Galaxy A71 kicks in a 64MP quad-camera setup that’s complemented by highly useful features like the Super Steady mode and the Live Focus mode. The phone uses the Snapdragon 730 chipset, while it draws its power from a large 4,500mAh fast-charging battery.

It’s pretty evident now why all these phones made it to the list of nominees. However, among them all, the OnePlus Nord has emerged as the big winner.
