Indian Gadget Awards – Best Budget Phone of 2020: will the title go to POCO X2 or Realme 7 Pro?

The votes are in, the jury members have picked their favourites, and it’s now time to announce the winner of the Best Budget Phone of 2020. It’d be apt to point out at this time that this title is part of the Indian Gadget Awards (Voice of the Industry), the country’s biggest and most prestigious awards platform. IGA 2020 is the first of its kind collaboration in the country, and possibly in the world, bringing together 21 of the biggest tech publications and YouTube channels. Co-hosted by 91mobiles, Geekyranjit, Trakin Tech, and MySmartPrice, the awards have 30 jury members voicing their opinions and helping choose the final winners. Without further ado then, let’s get on with the winner announcement.

The winner of the Best Budget Phone of 2020 title is: POCO X2

The POCO X2 came as a disrupter. It changed the game and set a benchmark for smartphones in the sub-Rs 20k segment. While the headlining factor was its screen bearing 120Hz refresh rate, the POCO X2 was an all-rounder, with its Snapdragon 730G chipset, 64MP primary camera, dual front snappers, and fast charging support being some of the other highlights. Ladies and gents, the POCO X2 walks away with the crown of the Best Budget Phone of 2020.

Runner-up for Best Budget Phone of 2020: Realme 7 Pro

Sporting an impressive 64MP quad-camera setup that uses a Sony IMX682 sensor, delivering smooth performance thanks to the Snapdragon 720G processor and offering support for superfast 65W charging, the Realme 7 Pro comes across as solid value for money and has been adjudged the runner-up for the Best Budget Phone of 2020 category.

Just to refresh your memory, here are the rest of the nominees for the Best Budget Phone of 2020:

Samsung Galaxy M31s

The Samsung Galaxy M31s is one monster of a smartphone that borrows and offers a lot of value for the price. Its Super AMOLED Infinity-O display with FHD+ resolution, 64MP quad-camera setup, Single Take feature, and the massive 6,000mAh battery made it a worthy contender in this category.

Realme Narzo 20 Pro

Realme Narzo 20 Pro is another phone that delivers premium features without costing a bomb. Its 90Hz display, 48MP quad-camera setup, and Helio G95 chipset make it an interesting choice. But it’s the phone’s 65W fast-charging capability that gets it a lot of love.

Moto G 5G

Moto G 5G is a great choice if you want ultra-fast connectivity 5G internet without burning a hole in your pocket. If that’s not enough, the 6.7-inch FHD+ display with HDR10 support, 48MP triple rear cameras, Snapdragon 750G chipset, and 5,000mAh battery with 20W fast charging make it a great buy. The price tag, just a shade above Rs 20,000, makes the phone great value.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro is among the popular choices for the best budget smartphones of 2020. The Snapdragon 720G chipset, 48MP quad rear cameras, 16MP selfie sensor, and 5,020mAh unit with 18W fast-charging mean this smartphone fires on all cylinders on all counts that matter.

As you can see, they’re all quite venerable in their own right and deserving of the title. However, there can only be one winner!
