Sony has launched the PlayStation 5 Pro (PS5 Pro) for those who find the PS5 isn’t powerful enough. But, how much different is PS5 Pro from PS5? We shall learn that here. Sony PS5 Pro price, pre-order, sale date

Sony PS5 Pro price is $699.99 (about Rs 58,747.36). Although Sony hasn’t spelt out the markets PS5 Pro will be available in, from the announced prices, we figure the console will be released in the US, Japan, Eurozone, and UK. Sony PS5 Pro’s India availability is also not known yet. We shall update you once we have those details.

You can pre-order PS5 Pro from September 26th, 2024 through direct.playstation.com and participating partner shops where PlayStation Direct isn’t available. Later from October 10th, 2024, the console will be up for pre-orders across all other partner retailers.

PS5 Pro will hit the stores on November 7th, 2024.

What’s new on Sony PS5 Pro

Sony announced the successor to PS5 at the ‘Technical Presentation‘ PlayStation event. The company called it its “most advanced and innovative console hardware to date”.

And, here are the “big three” PS5 Pro upgrades as per Mark Cerny, PS5 architect:

Larger GPU: Although the GPU model isn’t revealed, the PS5 Pro GPU can perform 45 percent more rendering, thanks to 67 percent more Compute Units and 28 percent more memory.
Advanced Ray Tracing: The PS5 Pro GPU can do ray tracing 2x or even 3x the speeds of the current PS5 console. This allows for rendering dynamic reflection and refraction of light.
AI-driven upscaling: PS5 Pro can use machine learning to add missing details in the images in real time to make them look sharper.

Besides these, the new Sony console comes with Game Boost for more enhanced and stable performance on over 8,500 PS4 games. You also get Enhanced Image Quality for select PS4 games, Wi-Fi 7, VRR, and 8K support.
