Google Tensor G4 vs Tensor G3 AnTuTu, Geekbench scores (expected)
Google has launched the Pixel 9 series which includes the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. All the phones are powered by Google’s custom mobile chipset, the Tensor G4. Let’s find out how the new processor fares against the Tensor G3 present on last year’s Pixel 8 series. For this, we’ve put together the available benchmark results of both chipsets against each other. There’s also a Tensor G4 vs Tensor G3 specifications comparison at the bottom.
Note: We have referred to early AnTuTu and Geekbench results of Tensor G4 from leaks and rumours. The actual scores and capabilities will be updated once we review the new Pixels running on Tensor G4.
Tensor G4 advantages over Tensor G3 (expected)
- Built on Samsung’s 4nm process node, just like the Tensor G3, the G4 has an octa-core structure with newer ARM cores. It has one Cortex-X4 core, three Cortex-A720 cores, and four Cortex-A520 cores. The Tensor G3 features a nine-core structure consisting of one Cortex-X3, four Cortex-A715 cores, and four Cortex-A510 cores.
- All the cores of the Tensor G4 get a clock speed bump and have a maximum clock speed of up to 3.10GHz compared to Tensor G3’s 2.9GHz.
- The Tensor G4 gets a brand-new modem in the form of Exynos 5400 which should result in better network reception and connectivity in comparison to Tensor G3’s Exynos 5300i. Besides that, the overall efficiency of the device could improve as well.
- Although the Tensor G4 packs the same ARM Mali-G715 GPU as the G3, it has an improved frequency of 940MHz up from 890MHz. This can enable a tad better GPU performance.
- Per Google, the Tensor G4 present on Pixel 9 series can deliver up to 20 percent better battery life than the Tensor G3.
