iPhone 17 Slim/Air or Ultra could have trimmed-down specs, but heavier price tag

iPhone 16 series is the next-in-line iPhone series but today, we have an intriguing rumour about the iPhone 17 series. It is particularly about the fourth iPhone 17 model, besides the iPhone 17, Pro, and Pro Max. Yes, the rumour mill suggests Apple will be moving from a Plus-branded iPhone to one that may be called iPhone 17 Ultra, iPhone 17 Slim or iPhone 17 Air.

We have some conflicting reports about this fourth iPhone 17 model:

Per Ice Universe on Weibo, the fourth iPhone 17 variant could be called the iPhone 17 Slim and it could demand a high price tag, higher than the other iPhone 17 models. This could be because of an “ultra-expensive new form factor”.

Here are the iPhone 17 Slim’s price and specifications according to him: 

  • Processor: This fourth iPhone 17 model could be powered by the Apple A19 SoC, while the Pro models could feature the Apple A19 ‘Pro’ chips.
  • Memory: It could have 8GB of RAM while the iPhone 17 Pro models could have 12GB of RAM.
  • Cameras: On the back, the fourth iPhone 17 model could have dual cameras while the Pro models could sport triple cameras.
  • Build: It could be made of Aluminum, which will be lighter than the Titanium build of the Pros. Now, there’s some doubt about the slimness of the device though. 
  • Price: It is rumoured to carry a price tag of around $1,299 (Rs 1,08,624.98). Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Pro Max could land at $1,199 (about 1,00,262.78). 

iPhone 17 Slim, Air, or Ultra?

Now, the build and performance ingredients mentioned above suggest the iPhone could be called the iPhone 17 Slim or iPhone 17 Air. 

However, the “ultra-expensive price tag and new form factor could warrant the Ultra moniker. Since Apple has Ultra models in its other product categories like Apple Watch and M-series silicon, it’s possible. Let’s see.
