Infinix GT 20 Pro vs Nothing Phone (2a) camera comparison: which smartphone has a superior camera?
We have already compared the Infinix GT 20 Pro (review) and the Nothing Phone (2a) (review) against each other in a head-to-head performance comparison and battery comparison. All that’s left to do is see how the smartphones hold up against each other in a camera comparison. We took similar images with both devices in different scenarios to determine which smartphone performed better. Check out the results below
Here are the camera specifications of both smartphones:
Infinix GT 20 Pro | Nothing Phone (2a) |
108MP Samsung HM6 OIS primary camera | 50MP Samsung ISOCELL GN9 OIS+EIS primary camera |
2MP macro lens | 50MP Samsung ISOCELL JN1 ultra-wide lens |
2MP portrait lens | – |
32MP front camera | 32MP front camera |
Daylight
The Infinix GT 20 Pro uses its 108MP primary lens to capture daylight images, while the Nothing Phone (2a) uses its 50MP primary lens to capture the same. The Infinix GT 20 Pro’s image has a cooler hue compared to the Nothing Phone (2a), which favours warmer hues.
The level of detail is slightly better in the Infinix GT 20 Pro images, though it boosts its colours compared to the Nothing Phone (2a). I personally prefer the Infinix GT 20 Pro’s image due to its higher contrast level, but the daylight images of both phones are quite close in terms of quality.
Winner: Tie
Portrait
When it comes to portrait shots, the Infinix GT 20 Pro features a dedicated 2MP portrait lens, which the Nothing Phone (2a) lacks. Despite that, the Nothing Phone (2a) captures better facial details compared to the Infinix GT 20 Pro.
But details are not all that matter; the bokeh effect feels almost artificial in the Nothing Phone (2a) image and appears much more natural in the Infinix GT 20 Pro’s image. The latter wins the round as it captures a more appealing portrait shot.
Winner: Infinix GT 20 Pro
Selfie
Both the Infinix GT 20 Pro and Nothing Phone (2a) feature a high-resolution 32MP selfie camera. The colour reproduction of both phones remains consistent with the rear camera, with Nothing Phone (2a) favouring warmer tones and Infinix GT 20 Pro’s cooler tone.
The Nothing Phone (2a) boosts colours slightly and smooths out the skin compared to the Infinix GT 20 Pro, which better showcases the subject’s skin texture. The Infinix GT 20 Pro also has slightly better edge detection compared to the Nothing Phone (2a), and due to these reasons, it clinched victory in the selfie round.
Winner: Infinix GT 20 Pro
Lowlight (night mode off)
We took low-light images on both smartphones to see how their primary cameras took pictures without additional computational processing from their dedicated night mode. The colours, especially the reds on both phones, are not very accurate compared to real life. In terms of details, however, the Infinix GT 20 Pro takes the lead, with better clarity and readability on the various banners across the marketplace and the food images above the hawkers.
Winner: Infinix GT 20 Pro
Lowlight (night mode on)
With night mode enabled, the Infinix GT 20 Pro’s image has slightly better clarity and a more balanced exposure level. The issues with lens flares are slightly reduced but still prevalent.
Surprisingly, the Nothing Phone (2a) has issues with overexposure. The neon signs have a prominent bloom around them and other light sources, which makes the result less appealing to look at and with a reduced level of clarity. With night mode enabled, the Infinix GT 20 Pro is the clear winner over the Nothing Phone (2a).
Winner: Infinix GT 20 Pro
Verdict
From the comparison above, the Infinix GT 20 Pro takes a clear lead over the Nothing Phone (2a) in terms of its camera prowess. If you’re looking for a capable camera smartphone under Rs 25,000, the Infinix GT 20 Pro is the superior choice.
The Nothing Phone (2a), despite losing the comparison, still takes great daylight shots, so if you usually take images during the day, the smartphone will not disappoint. On top of that, it offers a stock Android-like user experience and a unique design with LED lights that can also be customised.
