Moto G64 5G vs Realme 12 5G: design
Smartphone designs are getting unique and each brand is moving towards having its mark. The Realme 12 5G borrows the same circular camera module on the back panel and this makes it quite recognisable among the bunch. On the other hand, the Moto G64 has a square module on the back to house dual cameras and an LED flash. We see the iconic Moto logo as well.
The front is typical with a centre-positioned punch-hole cutout for the selfie shooter and flat edges but there are sizeable bezels around the screen. Both Moto G64 and Realme 12 feature a polycarbonte body and this helps with weight distribution.
Moto G64 5G vs Realme 12 5G: display
The Moto G64 5G and Realme 12 5G offer an IPS LCD display, which is expected considering they are budget offerings. There is also a 120Hz refresh rate for a better scrolling experience through the UI and smooth animations. However, Realme 12 5G takes the lead with a larger 6.72-inch screen compared to a 6.5-inch panel on the Moto G64 5G. The brightness is also 950nits as opposed to 560nits on the Realme 12. This should offer better sunlight visibility outdoors.
The only advantage Moto G64 5G has is the addition of a Corning Gorilla Glass layer and 240Hz touch sampling rate compared to 180Hz on the Realme.
Moto G64 5G vs Realme 12 5G: performance
Moto G64 5G is the world’s first to feature the MediaTek Dimensity 7025 SoC. The Realme 12 5G ships with the Dimensity 6100+. While both chipsets are aimed at budget offerings, it’s the Moto G64 that has a slight edge in the benchmarks. Our review notes the Realme 12 5G has managed to score 4.17 lakh points in the AnTuTu, while the Moto G64 5G in our testing has secured 4.97 lakh points.
Benchmarks aside, both phones are capable of handling day-to-day tasks like web browsing, clicking pics, taking calls, checking emails, and more. We haven’t noticed any lags or stutters in the UI. There’s no major heating as well. We will have more to say about the Moto G64 5G in our review.
Moto G64 5G vs Realme 12 5G: cameras
The Moto G64 5G ships with a 50MP primary camera with OIS and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera. We have a 16MP shooter on the front for selfies and video chats.
On the other hand, the Realme 12 5G gets a 108MP primary ISOCELL HM6 sensor and a 2MP secondary sensor. We get an 8MP shooter on the front for selfies and video chats.
Strictly from the numbers perspective, the Realme 12 5G gets the advantage thanks to its large 108MP camera but Moto bounces back with the inclusion of OIS support. The selfies should also be sharper considering we get a larger front camera sensor.
Moto G64 5G vs Realme 12 5G: battery, software
The Moto G64 is a clear winner in battery capacity as we get a large 6,000mAh battery compared to a 5000mAh unit on the Realme. This should offer better battery life in comparison and last longer after a single charge.
However, Realme gets a 45W fast charging compared to 33W on the Moto. The former is claimed to take around 70 minutes to charge from 20-100 percent. We should know the charging speeds of Moto G64 5G when we review it soon.
Realme 12 5G and Moto G64 5G both run on the latest Android 14 OS out of the box but Moto offers a near-stock interface compared to custom Realme UI. While Moto has only one software upgrade, Realme promises to push two OS updates.
Verdict
Both Moto G64 5G and Realme 12 5G are well-balanced phones, with equal benefits. With Moto, you get better performance, a clean software experience but with only one software update promise, a primary camera with OIS, a sharper selfie camera, and most importantly a large 6,000mAh battery.
Realme 12 5G offers a larger screen, two OS updates, impressive 950nits brightness for better outdoor visibility, and a faster 45W charging adapter in the box. So the choice is clear, if you want performance and a good camera over everything, the Moto G64 is a better buy.
