Redmi K80 series tipped to feature only flagship models; Redmi K80e might move to Note series

Highlights
  • Redmi K80 series is expected to launch later this year.
  • This time, Xiaomi is said to focus only on the flagship models.
  • The Redmi K80e is also tipped to shift to the Redmi Note series.

The Redmi K70 series launched in China just last November but we’re already hearing about its successor, the Redmi K80. A new leak suggests Xiaomi is working on the Redmi K80 smartphone, and with a new strategy as well. The Chinese brand is reportedly considering focusing only on the flagship models, and not the mid-range models for the Redmi K80 series.

Redmi K80 tipped to launch soon

  • According to the tipster Smart Pikachu who shared the information on Weibo, work on the Redmi K80 is progressing quickly. A launch timeline wasn’t suggested by the tipster but Xiaomi is known to release phones in short launch cycles.
  • The tipster added that Xiaomi follows a different strategy with the Redmi K80 series. This time it will focus only on the flagship models, and not on the mid-range models. So the Redmi K80 series might not include the Redmi K80e model.
  • For context, the Redmi K70e is the more affordable version of the flagship series, which features Redmi K70 and Redmi K70 Pro.
  • Xiaomi will instead transfer this model to the Note series, so we might just see another phone in the Redmi Note 14 series.

The Redmi K80 and the Redmi K80 Pro are expected to be powered by the next-gen Snapdragon processors. This will most likely be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, Qualcomm’s flagship chipset launching later this year. Other than these details we don’t have any information on the Redmi K80 series. But we should get to know more since the launch is still months away from now.
