MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC launched with 40 percent faster CPU; will power Vivo X100 series

Highlights
  • MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC is armed with only big cores, 4 of which are ARM Cortex X4 cores.
  • The chipset also boasts a 12-core GPU with hardware ray tracing, Generative AI capabilities, 320MP camera, and Ultra HDR support.
  • Vivo X100 series will launch with Dimensity 9300 SoC on November 13th.

About a year since its predecessor, MediaTek has announced the new flagship Dimensity 9300 processor. The newcomer will take on the likes of Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Exynos 2400 chipsets. It is equipped for the task with only high-performance CPU cores and a 12-core Immortalis-G720 MC12 GPU. The company claims a “40 percent multi-core performance upgrade” and “46 percent improvement in hardware raytracing performance” out of this setup. We already know the Dimensity 9300 SoC will power the Vivo X100 series. Here’s everything we know about the new chip.

MediaTek Dimensity 9300 specifications

  • CPU: MediaTek Dimensity 9300 comes with a Cortex-X4 prime core clocked at 3.25GHz, along with three Cortex-X4 cores running at 2.85GHz and four Cortex-A720 with 2.0GHz frequency. So, you see it is majority a big-core setup. This is based on the 3rd gen TSMC 4nm process and is said to be up to 30 percent power efficient compared to its precursor.
  • GPU: It is a 12-core Immortalis G720 GPU that is said to be 46 percent better at ray-tracing and 45 percent more power saving.
  • NPU: The chipset also brags to be the “World’s 1st hardware-based Generative AI Engine with secure, personalized AI”. This is thanks to the underlying MediaTek APU 790.

  • Memory: Dimensity 9300’s performance is aided by LPDDR5T 9600Mbps DRAM, UFS 4.0 and MCQ storage.
  • Display: It supports up to WQHD+ display at 180Hz refresh rate or a 4K resolution panel at up to 120Hz refresh rate.
  • Cameras: MediaTek has put in an Imagiq 990 ISP (Image Signal Processor) that supports up to 320MP sensors and up to 8K 30fps or 4K 120fps video recording. There is also native support for Android 14’s Ultra HDR feature (capture and display in HDR quality), and portrait mode in 4K30 fps videos.
  • Connectivity: Among other things, you also get built-in Sub-6GHz and mmWave 5G, Wi-Fi 7, 3x better hotspot connections, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, USB 3.2 Type-C port, triple-frequency GPS and NavIC support.
