Apple testing iPhone 16 Pro with punch-hole display: tipster
Apple sticked with the notch despite Android phones moving on to punch-hole displays. It then introduced the ‘Dynamic Island’ display that not only brought more screen room but also offered an intuitive experience. Dynamic Island now seems to be the standard display for iPhones going forward but it looks like Apple might have some other plans for the iPhone 16 Pro next year.
iPhone 16 Pro punch-hole display
Apple is reportedly considering adopting the punch-hole display for the iPhone 16 Pro model. It is currently testing an iPhone 16 Pro hole punch version according to a tipster who goes by the nickname Majin Bu on X. This is only a test for now, and may not br considered the final design for the next iPhone lineup, warns the source. The tipster adds that we’ll get more details in March next year, which is when there will be more clarity.
A punch-hole display seems unlikely considering how it’s only the iPhone 14 Pro models, and the iPhone 15 series that features the Dynamic Island display. Especially after all the work put into customising the Dynamic Island. It’s an intuitive pill-shaped cutout that displays alerts, current activity and more.
The tipster however adds that this is only a prototype for now, and we may not see an iPhone with a punch-hole display before the iPhone 17 series.
The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are also rumoured to come with bigger displays than the iPhone 15 Pro models. There are several leaks around the next-gen iPhones although there’s still ample of time for some close confirmation. Apple’s next iPhone lineup is expected to feature four models — iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
