Samsung Galaxy S24, S24+ to feature deca-core Exynos 2400 chipset: Report

Highlights
  • The Exynos 2400 is expected to come with a deca-core configuration made up of one Cortex-X4 prime CPU core ticking at 3.19GHz.
  • An increase in cores could mean that the multi-tasking and gaming departments should see improvements, while also possibly maintaining battery efficiency
  • Similar to the Exynos 2400, the Exynos 2500 will be a deca-core chip but will include three performance cores and two slower performance cores.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 series is expected to debut in the first half of 2024. As we inch closer to the launch, more rumours and reports have started coming our way, clueing us in on what to expect from the flagships. The regular S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus are rumoured to come with the Exynos 2400 SoC option, while the Ultra model is tipped to get only the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 across the globe. It appears that now we have more details regarding the chipset and also early rumours about the 2025 Exynos 2500 chip.

Exynos 2400 could be a challenger

Samsung-Exynos-2400
  • The Exynos 2400 is expected to come with a deca-core configuration made up of one Cortex-X4 prime CPU core ticking at 3.19GHz.
  • There will be five Cortex-A720 performance CPU cores with two clocked at 2.9GHz and three cores at 2.6GHz.
  • This leaves four Cortex-A520 efficiency cores with a clock speed of 1.95GHz.
  • The CPU is the Samsung XClipse 940 and the Exynos 5300 is the integrated modem supporting up to 10GBps downlink speed.
  • In comparison with Exynos 2200, the CPU performance is tipped to be increased by 1.7 times and AI performance by 14.7 times.

The deca-core processor could have some noticeable improvements over the octa-core processor. We can speculate that an increase in cores means the multitasking and gaming departments should see improvements while also possibly maintaining battery efficiency over the octa-core chip.

As said, these are just speculations at the moment and the actual improvements and upgrades can only be confirmed once the chipsets are made official and after testing.

Samsung Exynos 2500 configuration tipped

Besides the Exynos 2400, we are beginning to hear rumours about the Exynos 2500, courtesy of tipster @OreXda. Similar to the Exynos 2400, the Exynos 2500 will be a deca-core chip but will include three performance cores and two slower performance cores in comparison to two performance cores and three cores on the Exynos 2400.

The rumoured specs for the Exynos 2500 could include one Cortex-X5 prime CPU cores, three Cortex-A730 performance cores, two Cortex-A730 performance cores clocked at a slower speed, and four Cortex-A520 efficiency cores. The initial rumours of the Exynos 2500 included four prime cores but Samsung probably didn’t like the idea of using four prime cores owing to the possible heating issues afflicting MediaTek Dimensity 9300, which doesn’t have any efficiency cores.

The Exynos 2500 is rumoured to be manufactured using a Samsung 3nm 3GAP process node. This SoC could be on the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ in 2025.
