Google Camera app gets major UI overhaul with new features
Google has rolled out a new update to its native Camera app. The Google Camera app is getting a UI overhaul with the latest 9.0 update. The latest Google Camera update is however, available only with the Android 14 update. So Pixels running the Android 14 beta can download and install it for now.
Google Camera app 9.0 update
- One of the biggest changes in this update is the Photo/Video toggle button. There’s now a switch at the bottom that you can toggle to move between photo and video modes.
- Google has also added a new button on the left that will pull up the settings menu. You can also access the settings menu by swiping up.
- With the buttons at the bottom, the top part of the camera app is now empty.
- Another change is the gallery button now on the left, and the camera switch button on the right.
- Google has also made some small changes to highlight some camera modes. Now, the ‘Motion’ tab has been expanded to ‘Long Exposure’ and ‘Action Pan’. Cinematic Pan is also now known as simple ‘pan’ in the new Google Camera.
- A tiny change that comes with this update is the Google Camera themed app icon that’s now larger.
As mentioned above, the Google Camera 9.0 update is only compatible with Android 14. If you have a Pixel running the Android 14 beta then you can download it. This update was spotted recently, and it was expected to debut with the Pixel 8 series. But Google has reportedly started rolling out the latest update from September 7th. So older Pixels with Android 14 would also get the update at the same time.
Google is launching the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones on October 4th. It’s also launching the Pixel Watch 2 and Pixel Buds Pro at the same event. It will a global debut with the phones available for pre-order the following day in India.
