Cheaper Samsung foldables coming soon? Company may launch Galaxy Z Flip/Fold FE series

Samsung recently launched the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5, its latest lineup of foldables. Now there’s a rumour that we might be seeing “affordable” foldables from Samsung, and these could be added to the ‘FE’ lineup. This is Samsung’s ‘Fan Edition’ series, which features phones from the flagship Galaxy S series at a more affordable price. 

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5 FE

Samsung is reportedly planning to launch a ‘Galaxy Z FE’ that will be a lighter version of either the Flip or Fold. With the Galaxy Z FE, we can definitely expect a more affordable version of Samsung’s foldable lineup. The specifications, features and hardware would be toned down though from the flagship models but it would still give you that flagship-like experience based on what we’ve seen from previous FE models. 

This rumour comes from tipster Revegnus who shared the information on Twitter. But we’re going to have to wait very long for an affordable foldable from Samsung as it’s said to launch only after the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 next year. So there’s at least a year to go for the Galaxy Z FE. 

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE launch

The tipster also mentioned about the Galaxy S23 FE launching soon. There’s been a lot about the Galaxy S23 FE that has been going around hinting at its imminent launch. The phone was also spotted on the BIS certification site suggesting its arrival in India. In terms of specifications, here’s what is expected from the Galaxy S23 FE:

  • Display: 6.4-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, 120Hz refresh rate.
  • Processor: Samsung Exynos 2200 SoC and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1
  • RAM and storage: 6GB RAM + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB.
  • Cameras: 50MP primary sensor + 8MP telephoto lens + 12MP ultra wide-angle lens, 12MP front camera.
  • Battery, fast charging: 4,500mAh battery, 25W fast charging.
  • Software: Android 13-based OneUI 5.1.
