Highlights
  • Upcoming Kinetic e Luna to look like its petrol-powered electric moped predecessor
  • The new electric moped could also feature pedal assistance and a practical flat floorboard upfront
  • The Kinetic e Luna could get 16-inch spoke-rimmed wheels, drum brakes and a top speed of more than 25kmph

Design and powertrain details of the upcoming Kinetic e Luna electric moped has been leaked ahead of launch. The details come courtesy of a leak which indicates that the Kinetic e Luna will largely resemble the original petrol-powered Kinetic Luna. Recently, the brand has gained online traction as the company’s CEO confirmed the ‘e Luna’ moniker. The upcoming electric moped will incorporate practical design bits such as a flat storage bay upfront and could even host swappable batteries for faster charge turnaround times.

The design details indicate that the Kinetic e Luna will inherit much of its predecessor’s characters. This includes a tubular spine, a slim form factor, flat seats with a grab rail, and even pedal assistance. Riders can choose to pedal the lightweight moped in case they are out of charge. The Kinetic e Luna also gets crash guards and saree guards as can be seen in the leaked image. There is also a large and flat front storage bay that comes in handy for commuters and delivery agents alike.

  • The design leak also indicates that the Kinetic e Luna will get 16-inch wire spoke wheels and drum brakes on both ends to help the moped stop.
  • The e Luna will get a telescopic front suspension and twin shock absorbers at the rear.
  • The e Luna is also expected to be a ‘high-speed’ electric scooter which means that the moped will be capable of travelling beyond 25kmph and thus will need to be registered.
  • The powertrain design could also boast of a swappable or removable battery pack design to reduce charge turnaround times which will be crucial for its application in the last-mile delivery segment.
  • It is currently unknown whether the Kinetic e Luna will use a hub motor or a belt-driven setup.

The Kinetic e Luna is devoid of any direct competitors in the Indian market at the moment. However, competition can be expected from Bajaj-built Yulu electric runabouts such as Yulu Wynn, Yulu Miracle GR and Yulu Dex GR
