Apple schedules ‘Special Event’ for June 5th: could it be the AR/VR headset launch?
Apple has scheduled a ‘Special Event’ (quite literally) at Apple Park for June 5th. This will be a part of the company’s developer’s conference, WWDC 2023, that is set during the week of June 5th to June 9th, 2023. While Apple hasn’t confirmed anything about this special event but we believe this could be related to the xrOS, the software platform that will power Apple’s Mixed Reality headset and possibly introduce the headset itself. This falls in line with the latest reports that claim the AR/VR headset is on track for a June launch. If true, this could boost the virtual reality industry.

Apple VR headset price, features (expected)
- The Apple Reality Pro headset is speculated to be one of the most powerful XR headsets out there. What this also means is that the price will also be in the premium range.
- Rumours have it the headset will use 4K micro OLED displays from Sony, dual processors fabbed by TSMC, 12 cameras and an external power supply.
- There will be an option to switch between augmented and virtual reality modes using a Digital Crown-like control knob.
- There could be multiple cameras that can read facial expressions, map the surrounding areas, and detect body movements.
- Rumours have it that the Apple Reality Pro headset could be priced at $3,000, so it will be aimed at professionals and not regular users.
- The headset is set to go on sale later this year. This means that developers will have ample time to create apps and experiences before the official launch.
Besides the AR/VR headset, Apple’s WWDC event this year will witness announcements regarding iOS 17, iPadOS 17, macOS 14, tvOS 17, and watchOS 10. There are chances that the Cupertino giant might unveil the refreshed Mac Pro that is powered by the Apple Silicon chip and a new MacBook Air model with a larger 15-inch display. Apple will livestream the keynote on various platforms, including Apple.com, the Apple Developer website, Apple TV, and YouTube.
