MG Comet EV launching in India on April 19th, iPod-like steering wheel teased
MG Motors will be launching the MG Comet EV in India on April 19th, as confirmed by the company. The MG Comet EV will be the brand’s most affordable electric car in the Indian market and will be positioned as a city-friendly drive. The company also showcased some of the MG Comet EV interiors that preview a two-spoke steering with iPod-inspired controls. The vehicle is also expected to feature five bright colour options and could be very feature-rich.
MG Comet EV launch date in India
The MG Comet EV will officially be launched in India on April 19th and will become India’s third affordable and city-oriented EV. While the confirmed MG Comet EV prices are expected to be announced post-launch in the months to come, so far, speculations suggest that the car could have a starting price of Rs 10 lakh. The vehicle is likely to be offered in multiple variants and more than one range of options.
MG will also load the Comet EV with ample features, something that the brand has known with its other offerings. The MG Comet EV interior image that was recently released also tells the same story. The image shows a two-spoke steering wheel with a rounded and minimalist design finished in a soft-touch leather-like material. We immediately found a resemblance with the classic Apple iPod, as the steering-mounted control looks close to the iPod’s Click Wheel. The image also shows a dual-screen set-up likely to be a full 10.25-inch in size.
MG Comet EV specifications
The MG Comet EV will be a three-door hatchback and will measure 2,974mm in length, 1,631mm in height and 1,505mm in width. The hatchback will be powered by a 20kWh battery pack and is expected to deliver an iCAT-certified range of around 250km. The EV could make about 45 bhp at the rear axle. The MG Comet EV could be equipped with an electric parking brake, hill-start assist, keyless entry and go, drive modes, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and voice commands, etc.
