Google Pixel 8 Pro to pack Samsung’s biggest camera sensor yet: Report
The Google Pixel 8 series is slated to be the company’s next flagship smartphone series. There isn’t a lot known about the Google Pixel 8 smartphones yet, but a new piece of information now suggests what kind of camera capabilities the series could offer. For context, the Pixel 8 series is said to feature two phones including the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.
According to tipster Ice Universe, Google is expected to use Samsung’s 50MP ISOCELL GN2 camera sensor on the Pixel 8 Pro. Coming back to the camera bit, this is big news since the ISOCELL GN2 is a 1/1.12 inches in size, making it Samsung’s biggest camera sensor yet. With a bigger camera sensor, the photos will have better image and higher resolution as it lets more light come in. For context, the Pixel 7 Pro, which was launched in October, had a camera sensor size of 1/1.31 inches.
This camera sensor is equipped with ISOCELL technology and remosaic technology that helps showcase maximum details and also increase the resolution up to 100MP. It also supports 8K video recording at 30fps, 4K video recording at 120fps, and Full HD videos at 480fps. With Google opting for an almost 1-inch sensor, it shows the direction smartphone brands are moving towards adopting large camera sensors. The iPhone 15 Ultra is also rumoured to sport the Sony IMX903 1/1.14-inch camera sensor.
Google Pixel 8 Pro leaked details
As for the rest of its specifications there isn’t much that has been leaked. Based on what we know so far, the Google Pixel 8 Pro is expected to feature a 6.52-inch display with a punch-hole camera up front. The Pixel 8 series is also rumoured to pack a new processor codenamed “Zuma” and this is most likely the Tensor G3.
It could also go through a design change with rounded corners as opposed to the sharp edges of its predecessors. The cameras are also expected to be clubbed together but in the same oval-shaped module.
