With director Vineeth Vasudevan at the helm, Poovan is an upcoming Malayalam dramedy that follows the life and journey of an insomniac, Hari, whose fortunes change when a rooster comes into his life. Christopher

Starring Mammootty in the titular role of Christopher, this film is an action thriller flick that will keep you entertained during the entire runtime. It revolves around an honest police officer ADGP Christopher Antony who uses vigilantism and encounters to protect women and stop crimes against them.

Written and directed by debutant Manu C Kumar, Sesham Mike-il Fathima is an upcoming Malayalam comedy flick that stars Kalyani Priyadarshan in the lead role. Considering the movie hasn’t been released in theatres yet, there is not much to say about the plot and cast except the fact that the film is based on a woman, who is a football announcer, living in Mahabalipuram. While the movie is said not to be a sports film, expect certain elements that keep you on the edge of your seat. All in all, this will be a light entertainer.

It shows how the duo plan to send gold to Mumbai but gets caught in the web of greed, crime, and suspense. With solid reviews from critics across the board, Iratta revolves around the story of two identical twins, Vinod and Pramod. This quintessential suspense thriller has a rather unique twisted storyline that shows how Pramod must reflect on the miseries in life when his twin, ASP Vinod, loses his life while on the job at the police station. A DySP himself, Pramod must set out to figure out the facts and take justice into his own hands.

Alone

Set during the unfortunate COVID-19 pandemic of 2020, Alone is a Mohanlal-starrer action thriller about a guy named Kalidas who is stuck at home in quaratine. Interestingly, the character is the only one we see on screen in the film, as the small-budget film shows how beautifully minimalism on screen can also result in a marvel. Originally meant to go straight to OTT, Alone came out in theatres in January and is set to release online in March 2023.

Aanandham Paramaanandham

And, back to comedies for now. Aanandham Paramaanandham shows the story of Anupama who is stuck with an alcoholic father and an unemployed husband. To ease matters for her, her father takes his own life. But in an interesting turn of events, he does not die. Meaning his soul does not leave his body, which it won’t unless Anupama does well in life. Obviously, hilarity ensues in this dramedy about a topic that has not been seen in mainstream Malayalam cinema yet.
