The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is one of the most premium Android smartphones that you can buy right now, with three RAM and storage variants priced between Rs 1.25 lakhs and Rs 1.55 lakhs. While the phone is loaded with features to the brim, a new issue has caused a lot of frustration to the phone’s users. In the latest round of user reports about the device, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra appears to have developed a new issue of getting frequently disconnected from its integrated stylus, the S Pen.

It is not clear what could have caused this. According to reports, users started complaining about the problem shortly after the latest OneUI 5.1 software update from Samsung, which was also rolled out for the Galaxy S23 Ultra. This update has seemingly carried a bug as many users started complaining about the S Pen getting repeatedly disconnected from the phone — thus making it completely useless.

Users have tipped a few workarounds to this bug, such as resetting the S Pen from Samsung’s settings menu’s ‘advanced features’ tab. Users have also tipped that the problem can be dealt with by selecting the ‘keep S Pen always connected’ option. However, the latter is not a particularly prudent idea, since it increases battery consumption by a considerable margin by keeping one Bluetooth connection always active.

Samsung has so far not issued any statement on the matter, in terms of what could have caused the issue. It is, in fact, yet to even acknowledge this as a widespread problem, so it remains to be seen how the matter progresses. Users have previously complained about a blip at the corner of the display, suggesting a manufacturing defect. Samsung, however, responded to it by saying that it is not a defect of any sort, but is a factor of the assembly process.
