OnePlus Ace 2 variant with MediaTek Dimensity 9000 tipped to be in the works
OnePlus Ace 2 debuted in China earlier this week as a flagship offering and a successor to the OnePlus Ace from last year. The handset came with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 SoC, which is still a good performer for the price range. Now, noted tipster DigitalChatStation claims the OnePlus Ace2 with MediaTek Dimensity 9000 is in the works and will arrive as a slightly cheaper alternative or perhaps a special edition model, possibly the OnePlus Ace 2 Racing Edition. The leakster also tipped some key specifications of the phone, which are largely identical but with some minor changes.
According to DigitalChatStation, the OnePlus Ace 2 will come with a 64MP OmniVision sensor instead of the 50MP Sony IMX890 used in the Ace 2. This appears to be the biggest change between the existing Ace2 and the upcoming new model. We should learn more details soon.
OnePlus Ace 2 specifications
OnePlus Ace 2 5G sports a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a punch-hole cutout for the selfie snapper, and HDR10+. The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 SoC paired with Adreno GPU, up to 16GB RAM and 256GB UFS 4.0 storage. Running the show is the Android 13-based OxygenOS custom skin out of the box.
Moving to optics, the OnePlus Ace 2 5G has triple cameras on the back, with a 50MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP macro lens. There is a 16MP snapper on the front for selfies and video chats.
The OnePlus Ace 2 ships with a 5,000mAh battery and 100W fast charging support. Connectivity options onboard include 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, and a USB Type-C port. The phone measures 163.1×74.1×8.53mm and weighs 205 grams. There is an in-display fingerprint sensor for security, Dolby Atmos, and an alert slider.
