OnePlus 11 claimed to have the worst battery life among all Snapdragon 8 Gen2 phones
OnePlus 11 finally launched in China as the brand’s latest flagship offering with the mighty Snapdragon 8 Gen2 SoC, QHD+ 120Hz OLED display, and 100W fast charging support. While everything looks solid on paper, the reality is quite different, as per initial reviews. The flagship has only managed to achieve a screen-on-time of 5 hours and 33 minutes, according to noted Chinese tech reviewer, Xiaobai’s Tech Reviews. This is claimed to be the worst battery life on a flagship with Snapdragon 8 Gen2 SoC.
The reviewer collected the battery life details of all notable smartphones released in the past 5 months, among which the OnePlus 11 has the least impressive battery life (when compared to other Snapdragon 8 Gen2 models).
OnePlus 11 battery life
The battery endurance test consisted of mixed usages such as social media, video and music streaming, video recording, as well as heavy smartphone gaming, including Genshin Impact, Honor of Kings, and Game For Peace (PUBG rebrand in China). It’s possible that the global/Indian variant might have different software and battery optimisation.
The reviewer points out that the main culprit behind the mediocre life is that the battery is poorly optimised for music streaming and social media browsing. The video showed that OnePlus 11 consumed up to 80 percent more battery than the Xiaomi 13 Pro on Chinese social media.
Despite having a large 5,000mAh battery, the OnePlus 11 lasted less than Redmi K60 Pro with the same-sized battery, Xiaomi 13 Pro with a 4,820mAh battery, and the Vivo X90 Pro+ with a 4,700mAh cell. There are chances that the battery drain problem could be fixed with a future software update but for now, this is what it is.
