Vivek has mentioned that the Tata Punch EV is in the ‘pipeline’, which officially confirms the product’s launch in the future. While the top executive has not yet commented on a possible timeline for the EV’s launch, it can be assumed that the car is under development. It could be estimated that the Tata Punch EV could debut in India sometime in the latter half of 2023.

The Tata Punch is based on Tata’s ALFA platform, which can accommodate an electric powertrain. The Tata Punch EV will also likely use the high-voltage Ziptron electric powertrain that does duty in the Tata Tiago, Tata Tigor and the Tata Nexon twins. The Tata Punch EV could be priced around the Rs 10 – 13 lakh (ex-showroom) mark depending upon the powertrain options. Tata Motors will have to devise a lucrative pricing strategy to squeeze in the Tata Punch EV in the small segment gap between the Tata Tiago EV and the entry-level Tata Nexon EV Prime. If and when launched, the Tata Punch EV would compete with the likes of the Citroen eC3 EV micro-SUV in India.
