Ola’s cheapest electric scooter Ola S1 Air launched in India: price, specifications, availability
Ola Electric has launched its most affordable electric scooter in India and it is called the Ola S1 Air. The new S1 Air undercuts the cheaper Ola S1 electric scooter and adopts significant changes to do so. Cost cutting seems to be the theme of the new e-scooter from the Bengaluru-based startup and the S1 Air clearly seems to take the no-frills route to achieve stellar pricing.
Ola S1 Air price, availability
The Ola S1 Air is Ola Electric’s cheapest offering in the country and commands a price of Rs 79,999 (ex-showroom). The price is however valid for a limited period and the scooter will see a bump in price up to Rs 84,999.
Ola Electric claims to start deliveries in the first half of 2023.
Ola S1 Air specifications
The Ola S1 Air retains much of the same design at first glance but has been overhauled extensively. The floorboard is now flat while the boot space under the seat has dropped by two liters to 34 liters. The lower section of the bodywork is now unpainted plastic and the grab handles have been replaced with a single-piece tubular one which is cheaper to make. The seat has also been redesigned at is simpler to look at.
Underneath the skin, the Ola S1 Air gets a smaller 2.5kWh battery pack which fully charges up in 4 hours and 30 minutes. The motor generates 4.5kW of peak power and can propel the scooter from 0 to 40kmph in 4.3 seconds up to a top speed of 85kmph. The Ola S1 Air can do a range of 101km on a single charge.
Ola Electric has omitted the fancier ride modes and has only kept the Eco, Normal, and Sports on the Ola S1 Air electric scooter. The S1 Air surprisingly retains the 7-inch TFT touchscreen and will come loaded with the latest Move OS 3.0 software. It will continue to offer features like reverse mode, hill-hold functionality, and user profiles.
The S1 Air also comes with cheaper pressed steel wheels albeit in a slightly interesting design. The scooter also gets more basic twin telescopic front forks and dual rear shock absorbers. The S1 Air also settles for a drum brake setup on both ends. The total weight of the S1 Air stands at 99kg which is considerably lighter than the S1 and S1 Pro.
