Apple event on September 7th: iPhone 14, Apple Watch Series 8, and everything else to expect
Apple has scheduled its ‘Far Out’ event for September 7th and is expected to introduce a range of products, including the iPhone 14 series, the new Watch Series 8, and more. The teaser image posted by the Cupertino giant has space-themed imagery, which could be hinting at astrophotography, satellite network connectivity, always-on-display, and more. We already have a story explaining the reasoning for the conclusions. The iPhone 14 series is expected to bring a redesigned notch and this will be a huge change from the iPhone X in 2017.
Apple’s hardware event every year is the most exciting time for its fans and tech enthusiasts across the world and it is no different this time as well. In this story, we explain what to expect from the upcoming September 7th Apple event. Let’s get started.
Apple event on September 7th: what to expect
iPhone 14 series: Quite expectedly, Apple’s September 7th event will witness the unveiling of the iPhone 14 series, which will come as a successor to the iPhone 13 lineup from last year. However, this time, only three models are expected to arrive, leaving out the mini version. There are rumours Apple might introduce a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max model but we’re not entirely sure of its existence just yet. The lineup may include the standard iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus/Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
The iPhone 14 Pro models are expected to come with a pill-shaped hole-punch cutout instead of the traditional notch from last year’s models. This is a giant leap ahead from the dated notch look. However, the standard model is said to come with a notch. The iPhone 14 models are expected to feature a boxy design with square edges. The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models will get 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch display sizes with up to 120Hz refresh rate. The Pro versions are rumoured to get always-on-display functionality.
The iPhone 14 Pro models are said to be powered by the Apple A16 Bionic chipset, while the standard versions might get the dated A15 Bionic processor out of the box. The iPhone 14 is said to feature a 3,279mAh battery capacity, the iPhone 14 Max could use a 4,325mAh battery, iPhone 14 Pro has a 3,200mAh capacity, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max might get a 4,323mAh battery. Moving to optics, the iPhone 14 series is expected to get improved camera sensors as well. The primary sensor is said to be a 48MP unit.
Apple Watch Series 8: The September 7th event will witness the launch of Watch Series 8 and probably the Watch SE successor placed in the budget segment. This will finally replace the Watch Series 3 and might offer the same performance as the regular models.
Besides these, there have been various rumours that Apple is working on a new rugged smartwatch, dubbed the Apple Watch Pro. This is apparently meant for serious sports and fitness enthusiasts. It is said to get a more durable titanium casing, a larger and more damage-resistant screen, and steep pricing.
The Apple Watch Series 8, including the Pro version, might come with the new S8 chipset. As for features are concerned, it might come with a body temperature that can detect if you have a fever.
New iPad: Apple is also expected to introduce new iPad models on the stage, including the budget iPad, iPad mini, and even the iPad Pro. The latter is expected to come with an M2 chipset. The entry-level version might come with the A14 chipset, which should offer a significant performance boost. We can even expect a major design overhaul with the new iPad, such as slimmer bezels and a boxy design with rounded edges.
Besides these, Apple is also rumoured to be working on new AirPods Pro and Mac Pro with the latest chipset. The former is a long overdue update and might bring in some major upgrades and improvements over the current version. We should learn more about the Apple announcements in the next few days.
