Xiaomi confirmed on Wednesday that the Redmi K50i 5G is officially launching in India on July 20th. This is the first K-series phone to launch in India since the Redmi K20 series back in 2019. Why is Xiaomi bringing back the K series in India? Well, there’s no proper answer to this yet but one reason could be to create a distinction between the Redmi Note series under Rs 20,000 and K series which near-flagship specs priced anywhere over Rs 20,000.

And there’s good reason to believe the upcoming Redmi K50i 5G will be priced above Rs 20,000 in India. Leaked Redmi K50i 5G specifications suggest the phone is a rebrand of the Redmi Note 11T Pro that’s available in China. If so, then the upcoming Redmi K50i 5G is expected to be priced between Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000.

Is Redmi K50i 5G a rebranded Redmi Note 11T Pro?

We exclusively revealed key specifications of the Redmi K50i 5G last month. We revealed that the upcoming smartphone features a 6.6-inch FHD+ IPS LCD display with a 144Hz refresh rate. The device is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 chipset paired with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.

Going by these specifications alone, it seems the Redmi K50i 5G is indeed a rebrand of the Redmi Note 11T Pro series that launched in China. But are we getting a rebranded Redmi Note 11T Pro or Note 11T Pro+? Well, we might have an answer to that as well.

Redmi K50i
Redmi K50i will look similar to the Redmi Note 11T Pro.

91mobiles revealed, based on Ishan Agarwal’s tip, that the Redmi K50i 5G packs a 5,080mAh battery with support for 67W charging. This means the upcoming phone is a rebranded Redmi Note 11T Pro rather than the Note 11T Pro+. The latter, to recall, features a smaller battery and a faster 120W charging support.

As for the cameras, the Redmi K50i 5G should feature a 64MP primary rear camera accompanied by an 8MP wide-angle lens and a 2MP macro lens, much like the Redmi Note 11T Pro. On the front, the Redmi K-series phone should get a 16MP camera for selfies. Other key features include 5G support, stereo speakers, 3.5mm headphone jack, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 support, X-axis Linear Motor, and more.

It is unclear at the moment if Xiaomi plans to bring the Redmi Note 11T Pro+ with 120W fast charging support to India under the K series. Now that the company has revealed the July 20th launch date, we can expect to see some official teasers confirming key specifications of the Redmi K50i in the coming days.
