Vivo to expand X80 series; Vivo X80 Lite, Vivo X80 Pro+ may launch in October

Vivo is set to launch the top variant of its flagship series, the Vivo X80 Pro+, in October this year. Now, according to a new report, the company is also set to launch a base variant of its flagship series, called the Vivo X80 Lite. The latter is now under development, and Vivo is seemingly making the smartphone’s software interface at the moment. According to the blog RootMyGalaxy, the Vivo X80 Lite could be a mid-range offering and give users an entry point to Vivo’s flagship smartphone experience.
Vivo X80 Lite: What we know so far
Rumours suggest that the Vivo X80 Lite will use a mid-premium range chipset inside, such as the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 or the MediaTek Dimensity 8100.
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, it is important to note, was itself unveiled recently at the end of last month, and no smartphones have been launched in India featuring the chip. Devices such as the Oppo Reno 8 Pro have been launched featuring the chipset, while the much hyped Nothing Phone 1 is also tipped to launch with the same chipset. The processor is a successor to the previous Snapdragon 778G mid-range chip.
As of now, there are no details regarding other specifications of the purported Vivo X80 Lite. The Vivo X80 and X80 Pro have already been launched in India, and are priced at Rs 54,990 and Rs 79,990 respectively. The Vivo X80 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC, while the Vivo X80 Pro features the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The flagship smartphone also comes with features such as 360-degree horizontal stabilisation, cinematic video bokeh mode and others – in its 50MP quad rear camera setup.
It is not clear how much of these features would also trickle down to the Vivo X80 Lite. The latter would serve as the initial offering of the flagship X series.
