Nothing Phone (1) chipset confirmed by founder Carl Pei
Nothing is gearing up for the launch of its first-ever smartphone, dubbed the Nothing Phone (1). The Nothing Phone (1) will launch globally on July 12th, 2022. Ahead of the launch, the brand has confirmed the processor that will power the device. Turns out the Geekbench listing of the device was indeed legit, as the brand has now confirmed the presence of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+.
This necessarily means that the Nothing Phone (1) will be a mid-range Android smartphone, which gives us a working clue as to what to expect from the device, at least when it comes to its pricing.
Nothing Phone (1) processor confirmed, will be a mid-range device
Nothing founder and CEO Carl Pei continues the hype surrounding the Nothing Phone (1), and has now revealed the processor of the Nothing Phone (1). The Nothing Phone (1) will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ mid-range 5G mobile platform.
As per Nothing, the Snapdragon 778G+ is “custom tuned” for the Nothing Phone (1), the specifics of which, have not been revealed yet. This is not a new strategy, as several brands have made use of such customised processor makes in the past. It remains to be seen as to what difference the claimed custom tuning makes in real life.
Nothing Phone (1) specifications (expected)
The Nothing Phone (1) is said to feature a 6.55-inch FHD+ 120Hz refresh rate AMOLED panel. Under the hood, the device will come equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ processor, which will likely be coupled with at least 6GB RAM and at least 128GB internal storage. Coming to the software, the Nothing Phone (1) will boot Android 12-based Nothing OS out of the box.
Speaking of the cameras, the Nothing Phone (1) is said to feature a 50MP dual rear camera setup. Coming to the battery of the device, the Nothing Phone (1) is reportedly going to sport a 4,500mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging.
