Netflix with ads? OTT platform may start running ads by this year-end
Last month, Netflix announced that the streaming service had been undergoing tough times, as it has witnessed slowing revenue growth. Matter of fact, Netflix has seen its first subscriber drop in over a decade recently. This led to the company announcing several initiatives to turn things around and streaming with ads support is one of the biggest steps Netflix is seemingly taking. Initially, it was expected that Netflix would take its own time to roll the feature out, but a new report has popped up, which suggests that Netflix is accelerating the schedule, and we might soon get to see the Netflix streaming with ads support.
Netflix streaming with ads support may roll out soon
Netflix co-CEO, Reed Hastings, recently talked to The New York Times and hinted that the Netflix streaming service with ads support might be around the corner. He said that he would try to figure out the ad-supported streaming service over the “next year or two.”
This, however, appears to have changed. If the report from the Times is anything to go by, we can expect the ad tier during the last three months of 2022 (Q4, 2022). Apparently, the company has sent a note to its employees, which says that executives are now aiming to introduce the ad tier by the end of this year itself.
This necessarily means that things are happening pretty swiftly at the Netflix headquarter, and we might soon get to see an all-new ad-supported streaming plan by Netflix. To add to it, even Disney Plus has shown keen interest in an ad-supported tier. It will be interested to see how these proposed ad-supported streaming plans pan out in the future.
