Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth mobile game in development at EA

Electronic Arts is working on a new mobile game called Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth. EA announced the news regarding game development yesterday, but hasn’t shared many details yet. EA is partnering with Middle-earth Enterprises to develop the new free-to-play Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth mobile game. The game will be developed by EA Capital Games in Sacramento, California, which is the studio behind Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes. Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth will feature a wide variety of characters from the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit.

Without sharing many details, EA described Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth as a “collectible role-playing game (RPG) that brings the fantasy and adventure of The Lord of the Rings to existing fans and new audiences alike in a strategic, social-competitive experience.” The game will feature immersive storytelling, deep collection systems, and turn-based combat. Malachi Boyle, Vice President of Mobile RPG for EA, said that the game will have “high-fidelity graphics, cinematic animations, and stylized art” that will immerse players in the Middle-earth. Players will get to battle through iconic stories from J.R.R. Tolkien and fight against the evils of Middle-earth.

Since Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth is developed by EA Capital Games, it could be quite similar to Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, which is also a collectible RPG. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing as players who liked the gameplay experience of Galaxy of Heroes will be thrilled to try out Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth. EA hasn’t announced any details regarding the release date, system requirements, and download size of Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth yet. Since the game is already in development, EA will reveal more details in the coming months.
