OnePlus 10 Pro falls short of this 2020 iPhone model in latest DxOMark results

Highlights
  • DxOMark awards the OnePlus 10 Pro with an overall score of 127 points
  • This score is short of Apple iPhone 12 Pro’s score from 2020
  • The OnePlus 10 Pro performs well with dynamic range and video stabilisation but falls short in low-light conditions

DxOMark has published its findings on the OnePlus 10 Pro‘s camera performance and the results put it in the 27th position on DxOMark’s global ranking. The OnePlus 10 Pro has been awarded 127 points overall which is just a tad bit more than its predecessor, the OnePlus 9 Pro, which had scored 124 points. The OnePlus 10 Pro slots behind the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro, the Mi 11 Pro, the Vivo X60 Pro+ and the Apple iPhone 12 Pro

The OnePlus 10 Pro is a flagship offering from the Chinese manufacturer and competes with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus and the iQOO 9 Pro. The OnePlus 10 Pro gets a 2K AMOLED panel that refreshes at 120Hz, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, 50MP triple camera setup, and a 5,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging.

OnePlus 10 Pro falls short of iPhone 12 Pro on DxOMark testing

The OnePlus 10 Pro is OnePlus’s flagship offering and comes loaded to the gills with the newest hardware. The optics department has received special attention from Hasselblad and deploys a second-generation setup.

The optical hardware consists of:

  • 48MP Sony IMX789 (f/1.8) primary shooter with a 23mm focal length and OIS
  • 50MP Ultra-wide sensor with 150° field of view
  • 8MP (f/2.4) telephoto sensor with 1.0µm pixel size and OIS
  • Dual-LED flash
  • 8K at 24fps, 4K at 30/60/120fps, 1080p at 30/60fps (tested at 4K/30fps)

DxOMark has concluded its elaborate testing with the OnePlus 10 Pro’s camera and has reported back its findings. Good aspects of the 10 Pro’s camera system include a good dynamic range in daylight and indoor conditions. The details captured on the 10 Pro were also found to be good. According to the report, the camera is mostly devoid of issues with image noise and the telephoto setup performs well. The autofocus on the OnePlus 10 Pro was also found to be quick and reliable. Low-light videography also captures and puts out a good amount of details and overall features a stabilised motion.

However, the optics fall short in some areas such as in low-light conditions where photography suffers a pink cast. The white balance too takes a hit when shooting in low light conditions. DxOMark also mentions the sub-par performance of the ultrawide camera and the videos suffer from a lack of details even in good lighting conditions.

DxOMark has awarded the OnePlus 10 Pro with an overall score of 127 points with individual test areas that include 132 points from Photo, 72 points for Zoom, and 100 points for Video tests. This overall score stands short of the iPhone 12 Pro, Apple’s 2020 flagship which scored 128 points, by 1 point. However, many issues can be resolved via software updates and can thereby improve the performance of the OnePlus 10 Pro.
